Findingmyown way Thank you :) I am trying very hard, I do wonder if the wed night pub visit is messing things up for me, but thats why I changed my WI to wed mornings.

    morning gang. still off work with this horrible lurgy... can't muster up the energy to go to the shop (I'm still in bed as i type this :( ) so looks like it'll be a greeny day again;

    breakfast -
boiled incher with cottage cheese, mustard (.5 syn) wholegrain ryvita (1/2 HEB)
lunch - boxed up tuna pasta that was meant for work, fruit salad
dinner - leftover baked potatoes with beans and cottage cheese

snacks - leftover smash bhajis, milk for teas/coffees (HEA)

I know my menu doesn't look too inspiring but it's all i can really manage, lots of nice soft stuff that'll be easy to swallow.

This may have been mentioned earlier in the thread so apologies if duplicating, but did anyone watch the truth about diet food that's been on BBC3? just goes to show how low bad low fat micro meals like WW and the like are more harm than good. also given me a good ol' fright about my diet juice addiction. have been trying to cut back and stick to sparkly water if i'm needing something with a bit more 'fizz'.

Hi yoemma, hope you feel better soon, stay in the warm and keep wrapped up :-)

I watched that too, with Zoe Salmon, was horrified when they said wall paper paste and ducks feathers were used as thickners in the low fat micro meals :eek::eek: and after 4 weeks of eating all that stuff she put on 3lb unbelievable xx

thanks susie, wrapped up in my duvet, jammies and a hoodie. really need to be better for tomorrow so sweating it out (sorry... TMI!!)

that's why i've always loved SW - emphasis on fresh, home cooked food. i rarely use my microwave, OH uses it for his micro popcorn and that's it!! i don't know enough about other diets but would hate to think people (a small number of people) following WW would have 'ding' food for the majority of the day, keeping within their 'point' allowance and then still feeling hungry. i know they were showing it to the extreme but still - yuk!!

Lil_me, 1200 cals is the absoulte minimum anyone should be having anyway (I did years of calarie counting!). How much over were you?

    Sat - 1117
    Sun - didn't count
    Mon - 1513
    Tues - 1564

It's not so much the calories, but it's what I've been eating. Syn wise it would be well over 40 syns a day I expect.

What you said about 1200 being the minimum is part of the reason that I check the calories of what I eat now too. I had a couple of SW weeks where I was being really really good but only lost 0.5lbs 2 weeks in a row. When I calculated my calories I was eating about 700!! I was eating lots of superfree and I was full but it just wasn't enough calories.

Now I plan my meals the SW way, and I also calorie count them to make sure I get up near 1200. For example on a day where I only have 700 calories for my meals and my typical treat of a doughnut is 14 syns but it's only 250 calories I may have some extra syns.
  • If I was low on calories I wouldn't purposely syn - calories are fine but you're still adding junk to your body by using the syns. I would go for some smoked salmon salad which is high in calories but very clean, or a teaspoon or two of natural peanut butter for essential fat.
Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

I'm a really fussy eater hehe, I don't like salad or peanut butter. If I want something extra I usually go for weetabix which I have to syn if it's outside my HEs. Overall I don't eat anywhere near as much rubbish as I used to, and since I started checking the calories I'm finding better ways to add in extra calories to my normal meals (healthier foods).

I don't normally go out and have 2 doughnuts for example, but this week has been a tough week.
  • Hi All,

A little bit confused by SW and it's take on Lamb mince as i have just found this from the SW site

'Shepherd’s pie - add Quorn or lean lamb mince to the tomato sauce then top with mashed potato for a quick and easy Shepherd’s pie.'

No mention of it having any syn value!

Then i typed in lamb mince into the syns online and found this

Lamb, mince, less than 16% fat , 28g raw ½syn red/EE 2½syn green
    Lamb, mince, more than 16% fat , 28g raw 1½syn red/EE 3½syn green

Then i typed in lamb and found

Lamb, average of all cuts, lean only, 28g raw Free red/EE 2syn green
Lamb, average of all cuts, lean only, roasted without fat, 28g Free red/EE 3syn green

So i am confused - can i have lean lamb mince for free? Or do i have to measure & count it as syns?

I always thought it was extra lean mince - but i cannot find extra lean lamb mince anywhere!

2 weeks now, and have stuck with the slimming world way all the way :(
I'm starting to think the only way to lose is to chop off a limb :p

I'm sticking with it though, cos I feel great and healthy, and just hoping things will move soon.

    Food for today
    EE again
Brek: Banana and FF Yogurt (never have time to make anything in mornings)
Lunch: Chicken salad (lettuce, tom's, cuc, onion, mushrooms, FF cottage cheese)
    Afternoon snack: 4 tangerines
Tea: Salmon fillet, Jacket Potato, sweetcorn, sugar snap peas
    Skimmed milk in tea HEA
Pub tonight: 4 large vodkas & diet coke (15syns + 5 saved up)
After pub snack (its a must) Brown bread HEB, 2 turkey rashers and bunch of grapes

So annoying isnt it. I have kept note of everything that has passed my lips since I started this diet, so I thought I may completely copy the week I had when I lost 4lb and see if it makes any difference. But looking back at it, my last 7 days hasn't been much different to that week anyway.
Do you do EE aswell, or prefer red/green days? x

I think EXTRA LEAN is probably syn free - but you'd probably have to get a butcher to mince up a pork chop without its fat in order to get lamb mince which is that lean, because i do agree, extra lean lamb mince is nigh on impossible to get hold of!
