What I am finding hard to understand is how some of the free foods are actually free. EG Mug shots are approx 250 calories and I think I am right in saying I could eat 2 of these(500 cals) for supper without any adverse affects but if I had a bag of French fries at 87 calories and only 3g fat, I would be using up 4.5 syns. I just feel 500 calories is way to much to be syn free.
If you find out I'd love to know too. It's probably a control thing but I find it so hard to handle things I don't understand.
I had liver and onions tonight with mash and veg. Instead of gravy I just added some balsamic and stock to the cooked liver and onions in the pan, stirred up all the bits from the bottom and it was fantastic. Totally syn free and delicious. It was a bit thinner than I would normally do gravy but with the mash it didn't matter. I'd certainly recommend it. Mmmm!0 -
WI last night and 3.5lbs off! Was really chuffed as I'd been 100% on track. Not sure how next WI will go though - day out tomorrow and will probably involve eating out but will try to limit the damage
Congrats to all the 'losers' this week and commiserations to those who didn't lose (that was me last week!).

Think my syns will be saved for the 'works night out' tonight - I don't drink much but might have a couple of vodkas. Will aim to get the train home and have to be pretty sober to do that safety wise so that will stop me drinking much. Is it 4 syns for an average pub vodka measure?
Or I could have a low alcohol beer maybe then swap to fizzy water.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

Morning all! I'm not going to talk about the cake I had last night followed by fish and chips for tea!!! I did manage to not eat most of the batter and only had a few chips and half a little pot of mushy peas so it could have been worse!!
PLEASE someone pass the superglue....my seat on the tank is a bit slippery and I keep falling off!!! I've not helped myself by having no lunch with me but I'm not allowing myself to thin about the possibilities of what i COULD buy...I'm getting a jacket spud with beans....no discussion!
Will be a green day today:
brekkie- porridge (HEA&B) + banana
Lunch - jacket spud and beans, yogurt
Tea - lasagne (HEA&B), salad, will try to go without any potato with it but it'll depend how hungry i am by tea time
Snacks - I've got an apple and a plum if I need them.
I'm intending to go for a walk after work if the weather's ok, if not I'll stick a davina DVD on!!0 -
Morning everyone
A busy day here, I have to cook 3 madeira cakes, 2 victoria sponges, 2 choc sponges, 24 rock cakes, shortbread and 24 cupcakes ! And do you know the worst bit of all that? Is that I can't taste test !:rotfl:. Probably a good job really as the cakes are for a girlguiding fundraiser tomorrow and there'd be none left by the morning.
Today's plan (red):
B - 2 weetabix (HEB1), Milk (HEA1), Banana
L - Tuna and egg salad, satsuma, mullerlight
D - SW recipe double bacon burgers, using wholemeal roll (HEB2) and cheese (HEA2), SW coleslaw (2 syns)
Snacks - not sure yet probably a HiFi bar and some fruit.
Quick question (not slimming world related) I found a little bird (looks like a turtle dove) sitting at the base of one of my trees in the garden this morning. Alert but wasn't moving so I tried to get closer and it seemed to hop away but tried to fly. I couldn't see any apparent injuries but it's a very small bird - could it be a fledgling? I have no idea on these things but wouldn't want to see it suffering if it's in trouble. Or upset it if it's trying to learn to fly !I thought it's a bit early in the year for babies !

Completely agree - it's very strange, and one of the reasons I avoid synning at all for 6 days a week. The explanation is that the syn free food is filling and would prevent you from overeating, whereas we would all find it quite easy to eat 5-6 packets of crisps if we wanted to since they don't fill you up. The syn free food tends to be quite dense and has a slower releasing energy keeping you fuller for longer and preventing you from eating too much of it.
I've commented before that I could have 40 packets of savoury rice a day, a piece of brown bread and a glass of milk, with a shedload of salad, and be remaining 100% on plan - I would also gain about 6 stone a month. It's just that I couldn't physically eat that much.Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

Pub measure (25ml) of spirits are 2.5syns. Remember to have diet coke or slimline tonic though! I find spirits are an excellent way of keeping the syns down.
WI last night and I lost 1lb:T. Celebrated with pizza which was really tasty, and feel I have that out of my system so I am firmly back on track today.:A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right. William Shatner

But that's the whole point isn't it - you couldn't eat 40 packets of savoury rice a day, and therefore you are full before you reach your daily calorific needs for maintenance. Sure, SW could tell you not to eat more then say 6 packets of savoury rice per day, but the whole point of it is psychological as well as physiological - and telling us we're limited is far more likely to result in us feeling deprived and not sticking with it, than the opposite.
I don't understand why you don't use syns for 6 days? Obviously it works very very well for you, but I'm not quite sure I follow your logic?Nothing tastes as good as riding a horse feels0
