Hey....you're going away - this means you're supposed to enjoy yourself a little ;)
Its only a few days....and you can soon undo any damage when you get back by following the tips on eating loads of ss foods all week x x

I love avacado too.....remember my mexico gain from the guacamole? (but thats what you get when you think that because it resides next to the tomato salad it must be healthy & free ....so chomp loads of it cos its so nomnomnommy :o:rotfl:

My honeymoon agenda so far is to attempt to swim in it.

  • Hi all - I'm quite new on these forums but just stumbled across this thread. I have been doing Slimming World since last January, I joined after years of yo-yo dieting and my weight had reached 16st 10lb (I'm 5ft 9 and was a size 20).

So far I have lost 5.5 stone and am now in a size 12, I feel amazing! I have half a stone to go until I am at target and can't believe how easy it has been.

Food optimising definitely works and I can't recommend it enough to anyone who is considering joining!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:LMAO (I have the strangest visions now woot;))

maybe you could get into the Guiness book of records !

I even had it for breakfast some days :o my god its to die for
  • Maman - one lady in my group reckons france has 3 food groups: bread, wine and cheese. Therefore nobody expects you to stay on plan in France! ;)

MrsM - :rotfl:@ the avocado for syns - bless you, I've never ever known anyone else struggle to fit in syns - and then to be excited about eating half an avocado! :D You've still got a heck of a lot of syns to make it through if you want to get to 70 though! Let me see.. deep fried prawns with guacamole, houmus and a good drizzle of olive oil should see you right! ;)

Woot - don't you get dizzy and generally don't perform well on an empty stomach? I can't do it because of these things. V annoying since I then have to wait until after breakfast has gone down to do anything, and by which time I've usually settled int a more sedentary activity! :D

Speaking of activity, I did 290 cals on X trainer yesterday - forgot to do the last 10 to make it to 300 :o and was never going to make it to my target of 600 with a recovering BL! :o Boy are my thighs letting me know about that workout today! We've lost our weights, which is a big annoying and miffing - I mean, how do you lose 2 dumbells?! So I'll go for a brisk walk once brekkie has gone down, and do Davina later on. I *might* forgive the x trainer and stop giving it the evil eye enough to do 100 or so cals on it today. Oh, and I want to practice some of the pilates moves, since the instructor is good at spotting people who haven't done any in the week between classes!

First red day in aaaages today, so I need your support to get through it - I'm a reformed carboholic! :p

B: Ooh this was soooo nice - Sw quiche, with a bit of ham on the bottom, eggs, chives cottage cheese, and an A's worth of mature cheddar, and a B's worth of philly with chives. Mmmmmm....

L: I'm not actually too sure about this. Might go out and get some ham, and roll it up with quark as a snacky thing, or I might do quorn pieces with passata sauce. Or I might do both so I have a red day snack for later on! ;) I'm a bit "Hmm" about this lunch, not really sure I fancy it. Ooh, I forgot I had butternut squash, maybe I should whizz up a soup. Ooo-er, decisions decisions...

D: This I need some help with. I have the lamb shank in gravy with roasted veggies (carrot & parsnip), and spinach and marscapone - only just remembered to get it out, so it probably won't defrost in time! :o

    Questions are:
    a) is there anything I can do to speed up defrosting? It's in a metal dish thingy so no microwaving. Can I sit it in a bowl of hot water or something?

And b) a friend is doing me all sorts of favours today, and I'd like to cook her dinner too. I have frozen braising steak defrosting too. What would you red day veterans recommend: I could do a steak casserole with the braising steak (presumably since you fry it off first it doesn't actually matter if it isn't fully defrosted first?) or I could stretch the lamb shank because let's be honest there's plenty of meat on it - so what vegetables would you serve with it on a red day?

I've got cherry tomatoes and butternut squash, if I roasted them and some onions would they go well with it? Or if I do the steak casserole, what veggies would go well with that?

many thanks, sorry its such a long wittery one! :rotfl:

  • Morning all, and congrats on the fab losses yesterday:T.

Today is a manic one, so fitting in eating properly is gonna be a challenge.

    B - fruit + yog
    L - cous cous + roasted veg
    D - jacket + cottage cheese hopefully

Thing is I have WI straight from work, then some training immediately after WI til 10pm plus need to go to Mr T's for birthday card and diesel so won't be home before 11pm:eek:. Am gonna be shattered, and not sure if I can eat during training, but I think I will need some fruit just to keep myself going or else I will end up eating a pasty or something from the shop. I also don't really like eating that late, but not really sure what I can do.

Of course, you're right. STS this morning so could have been worse. next weigh in in 2 weeks so if I do have a bad week there is a bit of time to play catch-up. Then it'll be all systems go until my next break at Easter:o Oh but I forgot my birthday in March...... Now I understand why I put the weight on in the first place!:D

SkintS, if you don't want to go shopping then the veg you have is fine. I'd go for the lamb shank because it's bound to have some syns in it and you'll only be eating half of them;) I'd also want to do something green like French beans (I like them cooked, refreshed then fried off with garlic and a few sliced mushrooms). Shame it's a red day because I'd also have something like the boulangere potatoes or roasties but then I'm a greedy b***** and would rather have a huge main and skip the pudding.

Don't worry about going on, thats part of the reason we have this thread! We all need a moan now and then, and if we try to keep it inside thats when the evil fairies catch us!

Defo don't worry about eating too much either, free stuff is free for a reason - you can eat as much as you want! I always find I am hungriest in the mornings, and pre SW I would have three weekabix with milk and be hungry by 10.30:eek:! So now I swap all of that for fruit and ff yog and its all good:A.

Good plan batman - except I'm now wondering how the heck I'm going to fit in cooking and reheating whichever dish, since we are out from 2-about 5, and need to leave again at 6 ish. Slow cooker blew up and I don't trust my oven to cook things slowly without burning the pan, so I'm thinking stick the meat back in the freezer for another day!

Harumph. This is why I find red days hard! Next question: what can I buy in a small local shop which is red day friendly and quick and easy to cook in 1/2 hr!? I suppose I could make some soup and we could have that with brown bread, or I can make sandwich for friend.

    Hmmmm..

Woot - don't you get dizzy and generally don't perform well on an empty stomach? I can't do it because of these things.

Nope - I have a drink of water and constantly take in water as I work out and feel fine after. The worst I get is the typical metallic taste in my mouth but that's to be expected. As for performance, it doesn't tend to affect me. Of course, I have to work harder to get the same distance since I don't have a constant source of energy being burned as I run, but for me that's fine.
