    :wave:Hello everyone

I've been lurking around this board for a couple of weeks now and plucked up the courage to rejoin SW, which I did last week with DH. Well I am amazed and pleased to report a first week weight loss of...........6.5 pounds:T

I've been following EE (I've struggled with it before but it seems to have clicked this time) so hopefully I can keep going:D

Have joined a gym also and going swimming tomorrow

Hope everyone has a good week
    Kathy xx:)

    Morning all,

DKAM - Well done! Is life a bit busy right now and getting in the way? Mine's a bit like that at the mo, and I pop back on after a day or two and there's more than 10 pages to try to catch up with!

I'm off swimming in a short while... hope I can still remember how to!

    .
Erm not busy as such, just having an off week, AGAIN, I have 'come on' AGAIN, which is driving me mad but in a way a good thing as last year I only had 4 'time of the month's' which obviously does not add up, the doc said that if I loose weight they should come back and blow me down with a feather they have come back with a vengance! at one point it was every other week, now there seems to be 2 weeks in between so I hope it's settling down, but it's messing with my hormomes!!!!!!!!!! making me a miserable, angry old bint! :o
Plus I have started my new job :D ok it's working from home but at the moment involves alot of research beleive it or not! :rotfl:

Oh Swimming, I really want to learn how to swim, I also really want to take the baby swimming, but right now that is not an option, hopefully his Dad will start having him soon and can take him, he's such a water baby! and watching my eldest learning to swim just makes me feel bad that I have only ever took him once :o
Anyhoo, how did you get on? x

Righty-ho that NOT so little lot comes to 2A+Bs and 5 syns.... I know its a little naughty splitting my heBs but at least it is something I can split evenly biggrin.gif.
SPlitting your He's is not naughty! :j
Taken from the FAQ's on the SW website
Q: Can I mix and match my Healthy Extras by halving the portions?
A: Yes, if you like - you’ll still lose weight beautifully! The downside is your speed and fibre symbols would have to be ignored unless your two halves had identical symbols. However, mixing and matching couldn't be done when there are multiple items in one choice, e.g. 28g Kellogg's All-Bran 1 Ryvita Multigrain crispbread. With all single item choices, feel free!
  • Oh I don't feel very well, in the last hour or so I have started feeling sick, so going to rest up and have an early night, no dinner for me...

Oo, what a fantastic loss! Congratulations!
I missed my weigh in this week, but my size 16 work trousers that were getting too tight (I can't bear the thought of going up to an 18, never reconciled myself to going up to a 16) are getting very loose - almost enough that I don't have to undo the button!
    Very exciting.
Will post my food up in a minute, have changed plans because I didn't have time to eat my lunch. Will eat it tomorrow instead (more lovely broccoli and blue cheese soup), but has meant I have the most enormous appetite now.

  • Welcome Kathy! :)

    Ok today's food:

    Milk in tea (1)
    Blueberries, yoghurt, banana
    hifi (b)
Pot noodle in a mug & beetrout
    Potato cakes
    Mock Pizza (a)

Got some Dyno rod on the stove, going to see what its like without the tomatoes and beans, and got some gammon chopped up in there. I was getting a bit bored of the last recipe, hence the tweak ;)

I totally agree with you. A member at my group who is the current 'star slimmer' has lost almost 5 stone (with 3 still to go), but you can see just by looking at her that she's lost it too fast. Her face is very saggy, her skin looks constantly sallow like she's ill, and her body has 'folds' down the front and back, that you can see through her clothes, which aren't tight fitting! If she had been doing some toning exercises whilst dieting I'm sure she' would have looked much better. Unfortunately for slimmers over 30 the skin doesn't snap back as well, and sagging can be a real issue for big weightlosses.

I can't remember who it was who asked about sleeping poorly. To begin with my sleep was being interrupted for endless trips to the loo in the night. Now I'm finding I'm not really tired enough at the end of the day, even with the extra exercise, and am waking up several times in the night too. However, when the alarm goes off, I feel wrecked! I put this just down to me going through a phase bad sleep, which I sometimes do. No idea if it is to do with being on SW or not?

Hi your gym/fitness plan sounds great - slimming now I'm 37 I do worry about being left with saggy skin after, last time I lost 4 stone I got so into the gym I had no saggy skin but was in my 20's then. This weight loss has to be final this time round - Im older now and more determined now that I will be slim by summer and keep it off from when I get to target.

I am not rushing my weight loss - lost 2 stone 3lbs since September, I'm now looking to increase my fitness/excercise by walking more and doing Zumba once a week and have got some 3kg weights at home to start off with. I need to start with the gym as I use to love the weights so am sure I will once I'm back there.

Hopefully I can tone up again - don't think the arms/legs will be too bad but the tum will:o thats the area I worry about but my skin is not too flabby so fingers crossed!

I found since SW I was waking up in the night for the loo more, my pattern at the mo is that I'm not tired until 11.30pm - 12am then get up at 6.30am, in the holidays and weekends I can go back to sleep until about 8am, feel awful if I have more than 8 hours sleep but can just cope with my average 6 hours.

I find I'm worse if I drink diet coke especially in the evenings - I stopped drinking the unhealthy stuff many years ago but have had the odd one since going on SW, I need to phase it out again now as it's not good for me!

Off in a bit to club - did WI last night but my original consultants back after being off sick since Xmas so want to go to welcome him back:) Will walk each way as that will be a mile each way so more excercise!

    Today's food (green):
HEA1 for milk in tea and coffee
Breakfast: 2 x WW bread (part of HEB) with baked beans
    Snacks: grapes and satsumas
Lunch: too busy, but grabbed the slice of bread (part of HEB) I had meant to have with my soup.
Dinner; Roast butternut squash stuffed with spinach, garlic, onion, chilli, ginger and 1 goat's cheese babybel (3 1/2 syns), Wedges, used a tbspn of olive oil between it (HEB).
That still leaves me a HEA, might have 100g extra light soft cheese with 2 syns of chocolate options.... mmmmm!

Well done to all the losers :j

For those who have gained, stick with it as it does work. Papoosue I do find I lose more on the weeks I eat more. On weeks I am extra strict and just stick mainly to superfree foods and restrict my syns I have been known to sts. There are several versions of sw quiche, I make my base from sliced new potatoes cooked in dish till browning and then mix together 3 eggs, ff cottage cheese and whatever fillings you want eg ham, onion, peppers etc and stir together and then pour onto base and cook for about 25 mins until set/browning. I know others have made the base from smash or slices of ham.

My favourite method is to quickly mike some new potatoes in their skins then roughly mash them and press them into a flan tin as the base. And I don't use quark or cottage cheese or anything - I do it more like a cheese & onion flan with just eggs and pre-cooked onions, and a few (carefully weighed) HEs/syns of cheese on top. I'm off to make one now - you've made me fancy some :D

Yeah i did miss the boiling part - do you reckon just cooking them for longer would work?

Not very MSE if i have to strain & chuck the beans away!

Why not scoop them out with some of the soup, add a bit more liquid and boil them that way, ensuring they don't boil dry? Microwave might be best, put the beans & liquid into a big bowl so it won't boil over, get it to boiling point then reduce a bit and keep it going until they are softened.

I was going to "treat" myself to a work lunch tomorrow as I know Friday is Fry Day (fish in batter, yum yum, I am at target!) but now it might be SW quiche.

Oh, and I'm sure it's irritating having to pay for car parks at hospitals but can I put the hospital point of view please? Our hospital is about 2 miles from the town centre. People were using our free car parks as a "park and ride" service - so a charge was brought in that is slightly higher than the bus fare into town, if that makes sense to you. It's £2 all day (24 hours) so hardly breaks the bank and (I think this applies in most hospitals) you can buy a "season" ticket at reduced rate for a week or a month, just as you can get refunds on your public transport if suffering hardship doing constant visiting - always ask the ward staff. (and Staff have to pay as well! It comes out of our wages before we get them! Please don't park in our places :( ) Not wanting to offend anyone, just putting the other point of view.

  • thanks for reminding me of SW quiche - mine smells divine at the mo - I am mike-ing some sliced onions, mushrooms and a defatted slice of smoked bacon, with a sprinkle of nutmeg, ready to go onto the base ..... (I like to have my vegetables separate otherwise I am eating exactly the same thing for four meals!)
