Sorry to be a pain ladies & gents, but what exercises or activities do you do to help with getting rid of the lbs?
I'm struggling to find the motivation but really want to loose some extra lbs..
I started at the gym a couple of weeks after I stared SW. I've been going 3 times a week since. As has been discussed earlier by Woot and Skint, I do a mixture of cardio/weights, but slightly more of the weights. My aim has been to see the gym as a means to tone up, improve my fitness levels, and improve my upper body strength. Fortunately all of these have improved, and I put that down to going regularly, and always trying to do that little bit extra each visit.Spot on Skintslimmer - I'm just as geeky with it as you are! Next time you see a target member or somebody losing quickly, have a look for their 'bingo wings'. To me, the main sign of somebody that has lost weight incorrectly is the levels of 'sag' - whether around the midsection, the a$$, the face or the wings.
I find it a little disturbing that SW doesn't take more effort to explain this to people - SW does work, but a lot of members will be losing perfectly healthy body tissue as part of the process unless they're taking the correct steps to stop it. Eat plenty, and don't be afraid of lifting weights!
I totally agree with you. A member at my group who is the current 'star slimmer' has lost almost 5 stone (with 3 still to go), but you can see just by looking at her that she's lost it too fast. Her face is very saggy, her skin looks constantly sallow like she's ill, and her body has 'folds' down the front and back, that you can see through her clothes, which aren't tight fitting! If she had been doing some toning exercises whilst dieting I'm sure she' would have looked much better. Unfortunately for slimmers over 30 the skin doesn't snap back as well, and sagging can be a real issue for big weightlosses.Right then everyone, I have updated the SW recipe thread with LOTS of recipes. Most of which were posted on the Old Style board kindly pointed out by our lovely Consultant31 (Thank you!).
I've not had time to go through everything individually and check the contents. I've also very rougly categorised them. Please let me know if you spot any mistakes, or you think something should be in a different category etc etc.
So check them all out here - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/40936144#Comment_40936144
What an absolute gem you are! Thank you for taking the time and effort to do this for us all. I've long thought that there needed to be such a resource for us, as I've often trawled back through the thread with little joy of finding a recipe I wanted.
Well reporting in a bit late as WI was Monday, I gained 1lb this week. I felt really disappointed about that, as I felt last week I'd been 100% outside my 2 meals out, which I'd tried to incorporate in with my weekly syns. I came away determined to be even more 100% this week, and with no meals out I should be in total control.
I went to Morrisons in the next town yesterday (as our Sainsbury's is shut now for a week being refurbished, and the new Tesco doesn't open for 2 wks), and got lots of healthy foods, free snacks, fresh meat, and SW friendly stuff.
I bought some cooked roast chicken drumsticks & some roasted pork ribs off the hot food counter for lunches. I take the skin off the chicken, but should I add any syns to them at all? The ribs aren't fatty, just meaty inbetween the bones. I thought it should be fine on red/EE.
Food plan today: EE
B - WW dessert yog (OMG Betty these really are lush!), banana, nectarine
L - Mugshot, 1 chicken drumstick, 2 pork ribs, tomato, carrots, LF coleslaw (2 syns), lite salad cream (1 syn) plum, WW yogurt
D - steak, mushrooms, leeks, peas, sweetcorn, carrots, SW chips, ketchup (1.5 syns), gravy (1 syn)
HEa - milk in teas
HEB - Fibre Plus for supper
I didn 1.5hrs in the gym this afternoon, and had a really good workout. I have got my 2k row to under 10 mins now, whereas when I started I was struggling to reach 1500m. My weights went really well today, it was a 'legs' day; 60kg leg raises (which were 40kg), 30kg squats on the Smiths machine, and 40kg calf raises on it using a step. My aductor/abductor weights are now up to 105kg (ladies I follow around tend to do a max of 55kg). I'm happy that I'm seeing good progress there now, and my abs workout afterwards is getting easier too.
Tomorrow I'm doing an abs workout, cycle and then half an hour swimming before lunch. My OH suggested it today, and we've not been swimming for ages, so know that's going to feel tiring to begin with again.
I can't remember who it was who asked about sleeping poorly. To begin with my sleep was being interrupted for endless trips to the loo in the night. Now I'm finding I'm not really tired enough at the end of the day, even with the extra exercise, and am waking up several times in the night too. However, when the alarm goes off, I feel wrecked! I put this just down to me going through a phase bad sleep, which I sometimes do. No idea if it is to do with being on SW or not?One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Evening all! Well done to all losers and a big thanks to Lil_Me for the recipe thread, will have a better look when I have more time but its a fab idea! We should get some of MrsM's lovely recipes on there too, all the ones I've tried have been luvverly!!
I keep meaning to look for some of those goats cheese babybels! I used to hate sheep or goats cheese but now they're my favourites (Roquefort is my abs fave!!).
Well it was my WI tonight and I wasn't feeling too positive as I haven't done any exercise this week, firstly as I was ill then once I was better I've been too busy. Oh and then theres the small matter of the WW pizza my mum force fed me at the weekend (baaaaad mum!). So I got a nice surprise to find I've lost 2lbs this week and I'm now 2lb from my target! I'm so pleased as I feel much better about my first wedding dress fitting on Friday now!
I feel really bad as I just realised I forgot my best friend's birthday yesterday!!! I'd just not realised what the date was even though I had remembered last week and had already got her pressie and card! What a muppet I am!!! I swear I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on!!
I've decided not to do the full week of success express as I have alot on and am getting close to needing a shop so wouldn't have enough superfrees in. I think I'll stick with the 'normal plans' for the first half of the week then maybe try to do a few SE days later in the week. I'd love to get those last 2lbs off for next week's WI!!!0 -
I am feeling really rubbish at this ATM.
Because DS2 ended up in hospital we spent £65 on petrol to get there and back each day, £22 hospital car park and the £15 on TV cards for him and as a result we had no money left to buy fresh food. We have survived on spag bol, chilli etc but I have had no fruit or vegetables except onion and carrot since last week.
Tomorrow I will have cash to go to Aldi so I will see what is the special offer on fruit and veg and stock up as well as I can.
Today I have had egg on spelt wholemeal toast
a yogurt
rice peas and chicken with soy sauce.
ETA I think it sounds like a am moaning about spending money to see DS2. I am not, it is just disappointing not to be able to follow the plan.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Lil_Me, I just had a look at all the work you have done on the recipe thread. Really impressive, thank you!
What do you think about posting recommended recipes on there (with a link)? I was thinking of the blue cheese and brocolli soup recipe. Or do you just want the actual recipes?
I can link directly to posts on MSE, but I'd be worried about linking to another site. However I would have thought the other sites would prefer to be linked to than have us copy and paste the recipe. So in short - I don't know!!
What do others think?0 -
Well, I got officially weighed for the first time in 2 months aaaand -4.5lbs.
Was a bit disappointed really, but have to remember that takes into account 10 days in hospital, 50 days of my parents' cooking for me, Christmas and new year, a birthday and studying for exams. So all in all I'm pleased really!Think I'm naffed off because I know this last week has been synful.
Today I... stank the house out with garlic! Using frozen stuff in my pasta and sauce, and a huge lump went in - easily equivalent to a whole bulb, possibly moreIt was a lovely dinner though!
I also... DROVE MY CAR!!! :j for all of 5 minutes. My foot hurt afterwards - think its all the little ankle flexion you do with the accelerator, Its not used to that!

I managed to get:
the WW bread that is THREE slices for a HEB
Some great losses tonight - well done :T
I was very sceptical about the WW bread to start with and found it a bit tasteless (and tiny) for a sandwich. Now I always toast it and I've got to really enjoy it. I have mine without spread and either have it with beans/eggs for breakfast, toasted like a cracker with soup or with sardines and beetroot for a quick lunch or spread with marmite and topped with cucumber for a quick snack. It's great being able to have bread a couple of times a day. Personally, as long as I have something 'wet' with it, I don't miss the spread.
I heard that there's another one of those offers of free joining in a magazine this week along with a week's sample menu. I think it may be Best. Am I right in thinking that if you took the voucher to a meeting and paid one week's money you'd then have all the books? I thought I'd post it for any lurkers. May help someone.:)0 -
Hi! Is it okay if I join your thread? I've been lurking here for months! I've just signed up for 3 months online and am scared/happy/weirded out about starting tomorrow! I've got a menu plan for tomorrow, would anyone be kind enough to let me know if it's okay or not? I'm veggie so will be doing green days, although I am considering eating fish again purely for the health benefits.
Breakfast - porridge (heb) soaked overnight in yoghurt and fruit (prob banana)
Lunch - pasta salad - peppers, grated carrot, red onion, cucumber, pasta, pizza express light dressing (2 syns) and mozzarella (needed to be used up ,hea)
Tea - veggie chilli - jar of sauce (6 syns - needed to be used up), lentils, kidney beans, peppers, sweetcorn. Will put in the slow cooker before work and have already cooked some jacket pototaoes to be warmed up later
Snacks - 2 Alpen Light bars (heb), fruit, yoghurt, maybe a mugshot, 350ml skimmed milk (hea), either a Cadbury's Freddo or a hot chocolate for a late night treatI want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0 -
The voucher this time is in Best, which also apparently has a 7-day plan as well.0
