What fantastic motivation for you lisa:) Thre's a feature on a bride, losing weight for her wedding, in the new magazine. Exactly how much longer have you got to go? and are you hoping to lose more?
I'm only 4lbs away from target (unless WI tomorrow tells me different!) so just want to get rid of those last few!! Andy maybe a couple more as we're going on honeymoon to an all inclusive resort and if I could get an extra couple of pounds of before then I'd have less to lose when I get back!
I forgot to say earlier, I made the boulangere potatoes from the lovely shiney new recipe thread yesterday and they were deeelish!! Highly recommended and big thanks to whoever posted the recipe!0 -
Morning everyone! Just about to go off and do Day 1 of 30 Day Shred (finally found my DVD after months of looking!).
Was wondering if anyone can recommend what to cook for Valentines Day? The OH is letting me have free reign of the kitchen. I want to make a special dinner (something SW friendly of course!) Last day before weigh in - another completely syn-free day (through choice, they're pointless!) and a 5000 metre rowing race tonight against my previous best time. Looking forward to it, even though I'm aching pretty badly from the last 4 days of gym sessions
If I haven't lost, someone is getting slapped.Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

Sorry to be a pain ladies & gents, but what exercises or activities do you do to help with getting rid of the lbs?

I'm struggling to find the motivation but really want to loose some extra lbs..
I go to the gym 5 times per week usually, or 6 times if I have chance to go on a Saturday morning. I have Wednesdays off though.
My routine consists of (usually) a 6km run followed by a 30 minute swim then relaxing in the sauna/jacuzzi. On days in which my legs are aching I'll do 2500m rowing and 3-4km running followed by the swim. Tonight I'm winding down so I can get a good nights sleep, so I'll do 5000m rowing followed by just the jacuzzi to recuperate. On days in which I really don't want to do cardio I'll do a session of weightlifting. Weighlifting is the most effective way of burning fat and losing weight, so don't neglect it thinking "I don't want big muscles" since that's bull - what it will do is firm up, increase strength and burn masses of fat. If anyone here is only doing cardio, you're not using your time very wisely.
It sounds a lot but it isn't - all my gym sessions last around 1 hour (not including chilling out in the Jacuzzi) and I'm sure we all spend more than 1 hour per day sitting watching TV or procrastinating! Is it tiring? Yeah it can be - but I never expected losing weight to be easy and if it gets me fitter as a result then it's win/win. Whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger.
However, don't fall into the trap of thinking that excercise loses weight. It doesn't - it's a long, long way down the pecking order of how to lose weight. #1 is what you put into your mouth. You could get all the excercise in the world, 20 times per week and still put on weight. If you haven't sorted out your diet, working out is a waste of time and/or money.Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

No problem. As with everyone, the first step is the hardest. Start with small changes (get off the bus two stops early, or park the car half a mile from your house and walk the rest of the way) and get bigger as you start to feel fitter. You don't have to join a gym - the planet Earth is the best fitness arena we have and it's completely freeWhatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.
