I think Max Boyce is amazing but not seen him for years. Is he still doing Hymns and Arias or does he have new material?

No new songs but he has new material in between with his chats. He was just as funny as ever though.

All the audience loved him doing his old favourites anyway so it wasn't a problem.

Good morning all -tis still really chilly, -6 again bundledup.gif

Anyhow, Im giving success express a whirl tongue.gif

I figure that was pretty much how I ate the other week anyway -so I thought I would have a play wink.gif -now if I have this right -the basics are:-
    • its like EE but with 2A+Bs happy036.gif
    • you "up" the superfree to 2/3 -which I eat anyway
    • then any syns used have to be counted by the highest value
    • any snicky snacky snooes other than syns have to be super free
SO I pretty much eat that way anyhoo -so even if it doesn't make much difference -hey ho tongue.gif

So then -todays meal plan looks like this:-
    • 1/2 grapefruit -ss
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • 28g oats** (B)
    • banana
    • berries -ss
    • roast chicken
    • lettuce -sf
    • cucumber -sf
    • tomatoes -sf
    • red/yellow/orange pepper -sf
    • onion -sf
    • tickled beetroot -sf
    • tickled cabbage -sf
    • mixed berries -ss
    • activia (2.5)
    • 1/2 grapefruit -ss
    • lamb hotpot :-
    • lamb steak
    • onions -sf
    • potato, with:-
    • steamed carrots -sf
    • cabbage -sf
    • broccoli -sf
    • mixed berries
    • activia (2.5)
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • fibre plus bar (B)
Now that looks an awful lot again -but I guess most of it is veggies/fruit... so I make that 2A+Bs and 5 syns -so if I need it I can buy some more milk for 6 syns :j

We will be nipping out to do a fruit n veg top up when hubby gets home from work -so I can leave the hotpot on to finish cooking whilst we are gone nomnomnom
I have had my 1/2 grapefruit so now its time for my porridge nomnomnom... have a great day everyone and keep at it!!!!!

  • Hello all, I hope everyone had a good weekend.

I lost 2.5lbs at WI on Thursday that took my total to 9lbs in January, our slimmer of the month in group lost 10lbs so I only just missed it. Next month is also out as someone in group lost 12lbs on her second week back after having a break from SW for 3 months. She had already lost 6 stone and started in class at 31.5 stones.

Well I have had a long flexi-weekend, I have not counted a single syn since Thursday lunchtime :o I'm sure I read on here that Birthdays are syn free anyway! So hopefully that means that the fish and chips, 4 cadbury's cream eggs, whole box of Terry's all gold, meal out at Restaurant (including Tiramisu x 2:o) and 2 whole bottles of Amaretto won't count :rotfl::rotfl:

A maintain would be a miracle this week :D

Anyway, back on track today and my EE meal plan is
    B- muller, apple, satsuma
L- tuna mayo (2.5) pasta salad (cucumber, red onion, sweetcorn, tomatoes) melon
T - chicken with lime and coriander (0.5) red pepper, green pepper, red onion, spring onions. f/free yog, Options (2) and blueberries.

5 syns in total and that will be me done.

I hope everyone is on track and enjoys their day.

It's my WI tonight and I've just eaten an entire tub of rocky road ice cream!!! I know, I'm totally ashamed of myself. I don't even know why I got it out of the freezer as it's been sitting there for two weeks without bothering me at all...and it's not even 10am yet!! I've been doing really well too, saving up my syns for my son's birthday tomorrow.

Well, at least the ice cream isn't there to tempt me anymore :o

Thanks Sarymclary for the dyno rod soup recipe will get the ingredients tomorrow.
Does it do what it says on the tin???!!!

lol yes it does for most people!!
Stooopid me, I mixed up my day, started on EE then went green, just worked it out: 27 syns!

Really need to go food shopping. Apparently it is possible for me to get through £90 of food in a week by myself!

Ok ok that is an exaggeration, I have quite a bit of food left, but not much which can be turned into a meal, IYSWIM? I'll have a pointless stare into the cuboards tomorrow before deciding whether or not to trek out and get short term supplies, or if I can wait for an online shop to be delivered. This is my weak point and why I end up spending a fortune on food, if I don't have stuff inthat is easy to make a meal with, I don't stay on the waggon! :o

    I am exactly the same

ok today i think i am green

b - 2 alpen light (heb), venti skinny cap (5)
    snack - apple
l - wotsits (4.5), 2 babybel (hea), 2 alpen light (heb), ff yogurt
    snack - apple

you can probably tell i got up late this morning and just grabbed the basics

Sary - Tesco wholemeal crusty bread mix is the one that's HEB - it comes in 500g bags for about 80p
    Did the wine faries succeed?

oh yes the wine faries got me good :D but then so did the greasy spoon fry up fairies and the waitrose white bread and choc cake fairies! :o Day 1 yet again!
Will be 100% in Feb, apart from a valentine's night out. that's the plan!
I'm well & truly off the wagon, think it's ran over me a few times as well :o Hopefully back & raring to go on Monday.

    that's exactly how i feel!!
No idea what i'm eating today - possibly falafel at some point. I am in love with Cauldron falafel, they are so yummy.

ooh i love cauldron falafel - are they high in syns? I was thinking of making falafel from scratch (I've got an Ainsley Harriot 'low fat' recipe somewhere) - i think it's just whizzed up chickpeas, spices and a bit of egg to bind it....
The quantities are a bit vague as I was experimenting, but will definately make this again:

Thai green curry paste (2 heaped tablespoons ) estimates 3 syns
    frozen sweetcorn - lots!
vegetable stock cube, and a kettleful of water
    1 chopped onion
1 large potato chopped very small (too cook quicker)
    1 red 1 green chilli
1/2 tin coconut cream (20 syns! Hence why I didn't use the full tin ;)) - light coconut milk is much less syns and I would have used the whole tin)
6 syns for 250ml semi skimmed (ish)
    garlic
    1/2 red pepper
chopped spring onions - add once served to garnish.

Basically add all the ingredients, cook, whizz in blender, served with chopped spring onion, and voila! Posh soup! :D

29 syns for the whole lot, it has made loads, so I'm counting 5 syns per bowl, but will update how many bowls it makes if anyone wants me to confirm!

ooh this sounds lovely - however I wonder what thai paste you are using to use 2 tbsp and then chillies on top! I have Barts which I would really reccomend as it is only 1 syn per tbsp, but you only really need a teaspoon else it'll take your face off!! It's really strong!
(I find supermarket brands to be quite weak and flavourless in comparison)

I would also use creamed coconut rather than coconut milk, but that's just for MSE :money: reasons (so much cheaper than tins of coconut milk!) It's still quite high in syns - half a sachet is 9 syns - but it's a very concentrated coconut taste and then you can make up the liquid with water and milk.

I will def try this one day this week though, thanks for the idea!

    EE for me today:

    Brekkie:
    Tea with 1/2 HEA milk
    Banana
1 slice brown toast HEB with jam (low sugar - 1.5 syns)
    Apple

    Lunch:
Spanish omelette with 2 eggs, bacon, potato, sweetcorn, onion and red peppers and 1/2 HEA low fat cheddar

    Dinner:
chicken in blackbean sauce (3 syns)
Rice and mixed veg including onion, mushroom, baby corn, red pepper, mangetout

    Dessert:
Options organe flavour hot choc (2 syns)

    total syns = 6.5

I have frozen spring rolls (large, not mini) to have with dinner but the packet doesn't have any cals or nutritional info on - does anyone have any idea how many syns are in an oven baked spring roll????
    thanks

Stooopid me, I mixed up my day, started on EE then went green, just worked it out: 27 syns!

This is why i think i fall off the wagon so much, there's too much choice and I just get confused at what plan i should be following! This week i have all my meals planned out though so hopefully no slip ups!!

MrsM - can i ask a question - i've noticed you have half a grapefruit before lots of your meals. Is this to make sure you get in your superfree food or does it have the same fat metabolising properties of pineapple(according to Andy Peters on Twitter)? I was going to start eating pineapple every morning, but i could make it more exciting by having grapefruit sometimes.. every little helps!!:rotfl:

    Congrats on your loss beasygirl..:T

So Day 1 again for me..

    Red day today
B - Weetabix, semi skimmed milk, milk in tea
    L - Chicken salad, ryvita x 4, laughing cow extra light x 2
T - spicy mince and swede mash from one of the SW books (0.5 syn)
S - satsumas, fibre plus bar (if needed) 6

    = 2 x HEA, 2 x HEB and 6.5 syns

Lets see how i get on with that lot today! i'm hoping not to need my fibre plus bar, cos if i'm honest i'm not really that keen on them

I've not been on this thread for ages but I'm doing SW :D
This falafel recipe is syn free and dead easy to make :)

    Falafel

8oz dried chickpeas soaked for at least 48 hours (or use a tin)
    1 onion finely chopped
    2 cloves garlic crushed
    1 level tsp cumin
    1 level tsp ground coriander
1 small red chilli deseeded and finely chopped
    1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
    2 tbsp chopped parsley
    ¼ tsp baking powder
Salt & freshly ground black pepper
    Frylight for spraying

If using dried chickpeas drain and rinse well or drain and rinse tinned.
Put the drained chickpeas in a processor with the onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, chilli and herbs and process until smooth.
Stir in the baking powder and seasoning.
Transfer to a bowl and chill for an hour.
Take small pieces and shape into balls then flatten slightly.
Place on a tray sprayed with frylight and bake in a pre-heated oven at 2200C Gas mark 7 for 12-15 minutes until crisp and golden.
A bowl of low fat yoghurt flavoured with fresh mint and chopped chilli makes a good dip to go with them.

    Enjoy!
  • Beasygirl - hope you had a good birthday, it certainly seems like it and all that food for no syns :D

It is my 2nd weigh in tomorrow, hopefully the scales will be kind to me. I'll let you know how I get on.

Keep up the good work everyone

  • My my, this thread is still moving really slowly, hope its not because the tank is having to roll over all those people who fell off at the speed bumps that were the weekend and the "end of January therefore let's break the resolution good and hard" bandits we saw back there? Or maybe people have fainted because of the smell of dyno fumes?

Despite a bad day yesterday, I am allowing myself a flexi day today, since I don't have much food in :o and I'm up to my eyeballs in revision for tomorrow's equine nutrition exam. I have found two amazing thngs in my freezer: frozen real sausages (full fat) and a tub of my dad's HM soup, made with the leftover Xmas turkey. he uses a tin of cambell's chicken, and a tin of their tomato soup to make it, but it does make loads, so I'm estimating it'll be 5 syns per large bowl, and 5 for each sausage. Will have the sausage with swede and carrot mash, so I could end up EE or green, we will see.

Oh by the way that reminds me betty, the sweetcorn soup looks lke it'll do 6 bowls, and yes, there must be 100s of ways of making it lower syn than the way I did it. Minimins were discussing it and apparently they favour a drop of coconut essence from jane fonda and milk, that way it would be FREE if the milk was a healthy extra (although not as creamy - but then again the potato adds some thickness).

Yes two tablespoons of green curry powder - it was tescos own, and it wanted me to use the whole jar! this was about 1/4, hence why the chillis were fine - although personally I like my food with a kick to wear teel toe caps, so will make it 3 chillis next time ;) I kept the curry paste down because I figured the soup was synful enough! :o I'm hopeful it'll have matured overnight ;)

I'm waffling again, its the procrastination of revision. I can't afford to do that, so byeeeeee for now (I'll prob be back later!)
