Yesterday was my first bad day :( Just didn't feel right and at the end of the day wasn't happy with my syns

    B: Grapes & yogurt
L: Tortilla wrap (5.5) chicken & salad. HM butternut squash soup.
T: Jacket potato cheese & beans

Supper: Piece of toast at 9pm cos I realised I hadn't had a HB

Snacks: 2 quality street (4), 1.5 glasses of wine (12)

    Observations: (I like to analyse!!)

I think it all started to go wrong from the start ... grapes & yogurt just wasn't enough to start the day.

The tortilla wrap wasn't worth the 5.5 syns :(

    I didn't meal plan enough.

Lessons learnt: (Don't laugh ... it's just me!)

Last night I chopped up lots of fruit to take into work today and I got up nice and early this morning and cooked a nice brekkie to keep me going. So today is going to look like this:

B: Bacon, poached egg, baked beans, 1 piece of wholemeal toast

L: Chicken salad, HM butternut squash soup

    T: HM Spaghetti & meatballs

    Snacks - Fruit salad

And because it's Friday ;) my syns will go towards a glass of vino tonight x

Oh guys, I need your help!

I managed to burn pasta in a stainless (ha!) steel pan yesterday.

With elbow grease (why oh why do we have a lack of anything scrubby in the house?? I had to raid the bathroom for a sad used brillo pad!) I got it down to the point of a few macaroni shaped black bits which are refusing to budge.

Soaked overnight - boiled - no improvement. I know, I thought, I'll google it and see what clever tricks there are for removing burnt food.

One of them said heat veg oil on a low heat inside the pan for an hour, allow to cool then try (apparently the carbon is supposed to absorb the oil) "Brilliant!" I thought, that'll work. Got olive oil, followed instructions, left pan on low heat covered.

10 minutes later the house is full of smoke! The pan is smoking badly, despite only being on no.2, and now look at what I have achieved - carbon macaroni is still there, but now we ALSO have oil burn marks up the sides of the pan, AND the house stinks of burnt food - AGAIN!

Its now soaking in the sink with fairy and hot water, but um... any more advice as to what to try next?! :o I'm going out to physio in an hour, so will be able to pick up scourers and any other cleaning fluids then.

    :eek::eek::eek:

Get yourself some Mr Muscle oven cleaner! Its nasty stuff but it works!!!! I think your error may have been using olive oil not vegetable as olive oil will burn at a much lower temperature.

Skint_Catt - congrats!! My aunty (who had lots of weight to lose) did SW throughout her pregnancy and was slimmer by the time she gave birth than I've ever seen her! ALso, we have a girl in our group who's pregnant now. I think she's into the 30 odd weeks and still coming and seems to have only gained bump.

I read in the :money:MSE book that if you boil water with washing powder in a stainless steel pan it gets rid of black marks (tried it - does work) might help get the bits off too - worth a try??

Awww congratualtions Skint_Cat! Wishing you all the best for the pregnancy. One of my friends is about to give birth any day now (well she was due on the 24th, so she's quite uncomfortable and moaning a lot apparently). Another just had a baby (well in October) and has lost all the weight already. She did WW (boo!) throughout and just put on the bump and that's it. Her little girl is adorable. Making me all broody just thinking about babies!

Do you think laundry liquid would work - I don't have powder! :o

Mr Muscle oven cleaner sounds hardcore - and probably just what it needs! I was going to try coke or vinegar next, as that also seems slightly corrosive, if you know what I mean. But I'm liking the sound of a hardcore oven cleaner! :D

Yes olive not vegetable oil was definately a mistake - just didn't think it'd matter since it was a low heat - how wrong was I?! UIts threatening to turn into one of those days, as I can now only find one of my padded gloves! I'm crutching a fair distance today, it'll be blisters ahoy if I can't find the other one!

Oh and a massive congrats to skint _catt! I used to be in a group with a lady who was pregnant, she got SOTW when she gave birth - all 13 lbs in one week! ;)

    Thanks hun,

I did a test last night & took it to OH who was already in bed - he just kept grinning until he fell asleep, lol :rotfl:Men!

I haven't seen him yet today as I leave for work at stupid o'clock - but we took his father to hospital yesterday so he probably has other things on his mind. :o

mirry if the pasta and lasagne sheets are the dry variety (not 'fresh' from the fridge section) then they are free on EE and green
