Susie - Your sample menu is correct in it's syn values. Plain skinless chicken, cooked either in Fry Light or baked, with a salad, is completely free. I can only imagine that 5 syn value came from a pre-prepared salad where the chicken was cooked otherwise or the salad had a dressing.

I would say that in addition to your menus, just make sure that at least 1/3 is superfree food - and your second day doesn't feature any HEA.

Emsky - looks like EE would be the plan for you based on that diet. EE has a good mix of fruit/veg/meat and I've found it to be the most flexible and involve the least 'double checking'. I would recommend eating more food though and taking in much more superfree.

  • Well in my haste to prepare for exams I forgot to prepare for eating too - totally forgot breakfast this morning, only remembered when half an hour into my exam my tummy started gurgling :o Then when I came out of the exam I realised I had forgotten to make any lunch! The day was made all the more interesting my a friend of mine going lame (her knee can sometimes just "go" and so we shared my crutches, and hobbled back to the car, one crutch each, looking like right eejits, while our still-able bodied friend went off to buy us some sandwiches! So I've not had the cream cake I wanted, but I have had a ridiculous amount of syns on a tasteless sandwich

Still, going to put that behind me and get on with my day. Useless white bread sandwich may reduce in syns if I decide to use the ham and cheese in it as healthy extras, then again I have enough syns as hardly had any yesterday, so might just get on with my day regardless.

Still... annoying when you use syns for something you didn't enjoy, ain't it?

Can any one suggest a very low syn tomato ketchup?. I currently buy Heinz reduced salt and sugar. No idea of the syn value.

Hi all. Still feeling all stressed, made a total prat of myself this morning by bursting into tears in the office....not a good idea when you work with all blokes!!! Its a good job I'd cheered up a bit by lunchtime when I realised that the 'soup' I'd brought for lunch from the freezer was actually curry base sauce!!! So that ended up down the sink as I'd defrosted and heated it before I realised. i did try a spoonful to see if I could eat it as soup bt its very watery and insipid, you add a lot more flavours to it and cook it down when you turn it into a curry!!! Its a good thing I always bring plenty of food to work with me but I mus admit I am still hungry. Hometime soon but won't be able to get on with tea very quickly as the in-laws are coming round.

I'm going for a green day today:

    brekkie - porridge (HEA&B), banana
    Snack - apple
Lunch - leftover sw chips, pineapple, jelly (0.5), mixed berries, yogurt
Tea - salmon (HEB), baby jacket potatoes with dill, grated cheese (HEA), salad.

Just realised I was meant to go to the market at lunch as I had to throw my lettuce out last night as every leaf was covered in brown spots. Won't be much of a salad with just cucumber and tomatoes! I've got the stuff to make HM coleslaw. I'll hopefully have time to do some of that instead.

Dizzy - your trip sounds like something that would happen to me. Atleast you have a story to tell!!

Mrs M - what is Ketjap Manis?! sounds interesting!!!

Tomato ketchup isn't high in syns anyway. i just use tesco or morrisons own normal one. I can't remember what it is but something like 1 syn per tablespoon.....check that though!!!

Ketjap Manis is a variant of soy sauce, with plenty of spices. It's Indonesian I think but I may be wrong.

And I've done the same with soup - had some Superspeed soup in the freezer so before work I decided to take it out and defrost it. I was looking forward to it all afternoon, only to get home and realise that I had instead prepared myself a nice hot bowl of sweet and sour sauce.

    Afternoon all

Sounds like some of you are having "interesting" times -what with no lunches, wrong lunches, sharing of crutches
well done on the latest losses folks :j
Lisa -Wootball is right ... kepac manis (I think is the normal spelling) its soy sauce based but sweeter -it is blinkin scrummy, I got it to make my marinades etc -but it was yum yum yum just sprinkled on my chicken... not exactly sure of the syn count so I counted it the same as sweet chilli sauce etc..
Lisa -don't worry about being upset at work.... Im sure the fellas were fine... hope things pick up soon for you ;)

    Emsky

Breakfast:Oats so simple (Plain) + semi milk 250ml would be a heA
    Snack: A few grapes
Dinner: Half a tin of chicken soup (we would need to know what brand)+ an apple
    Snack: A few more grapes
Tea: Spag bol.. wholewheat pasta but readymade sauce.(again we would need to know what brand+ and if the mince was extra lean etc)

Do you have any of the booklets etc or are you doing it completely on your own? -sorry if Im asking more questions than Im answering :rotfl:

Susiebear -wootball is right (thats twice now :p) -the chicken pasta salad would be "ready made" so who knows what is in there

    Hey everyone!

Good luck to all those weighing in tonight!

Shala you're brave making the cupcakes. I would be soooo tempted to sample them!

Dizzy hope you feel better soon.

Dkam you're doing fab hun. Keep going!

I'm feeling a bit dizzy today. I fell and hurt the ligaments in my foot and I've been in awful pain with it today. So its either that or the lack of junk food!

I only had a yoghurt for brekkie as I took some strong painkillers and went back to bed.

Lunch I had a mugshot and e slices w\m bread and some cathedral city lighter cheese. Some grapes and a yoghurt.

Dinner tonight is pasta bake with mince. I have loads of veggies in the fridge to be used so I'm going to stuff it with those and I will use some syns for a sprinkle of cheese over the top.

Betty b I tried your muller banana and biscuit dessert and its gorgeous! I made it for my oh and he loved it too. So I will have that again tonight when my girls are in bed.

I'm supposed to be back at work next week and I'm thinking about lunches there. I'm going to do ee most days as my iron and B12 levels can get really low so I want to always make sure I eat meat. We have a work canteen and they always do two types of soup. I'm thinking I could have that or make up pasta salad. What do you all take in? I only get a ten min break as I only work four hour shifts so I want to be prepared!
