Been eating quite a lot of Superspeed soup - holy christ that blocks me up insanely. Haven't gone in about three days (sorry for TMI).
Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

DKAM - that's a fab idea re. the pasta dish, so I'm going to go buy those ingredients on the way to class... I've written a list and putting it in my bag. :D

Just to clarify. The £5 comes from the Consultant, but the raffle winner then buys the next week's raffle bag. We also take a piece of fruit each for the SOTW (which seems to be the same 3 people from what I've seen ;) ). My main concern is that the majority of members who stay to class, whilst lovely, do seem to love convenience meals, rather than cooking from scratch. When you consider that in the last few weeks only the newbies, me and 3 other people have lost weight, and one of those 3 is my son! (which means the majority of those who stay to class haven't since before Xmas!). I really wished someone had won my lovely slow-cooked beef raffle last week, apart from me, because I'd included a full recipe, lean beef, seasoning, pearl barley, veggies, stock, etc. I kind of wanted one of the other ladies to win it and realise how easy it would be to make a meal from scratch, rather than living on packets of pasta & sauce or sausages. You have to bear in mind this is a group that has never heard of Joe's Sausages, Minimins or MSE, and do not use the SW website! It's like stepping back in time once a week.

DKAM, you and I have both lost our 1st stone, and I have been battling the munchie monster this past couple of weeks, and feeling like I am struggling a bit to stay on plan. I was chatting to my son this AM who is doing SW with me, and we agreed that we are missing different tastes, or a variety of tastes/textures sometimes, which makes us long for less healthy things. We're going to look through the recipe books at class tonight to get inspiration for some meals we can have. I am also making sure my fruit intake is higher, and have discovered that I really like the fresh apricots from Sainso's, so have one each morning with my breakfast. They have value blueberries in there for £1 a punnet too, which is a bargain I thought.

Right, i can't put it off anymore, and have to get off to the gym now.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
  • I also find the evenings hard, I get an attack of the munchies and don't know how to deal with it, especially when it is for smething sweet, not chocolate always, just sweet.

Sugar free jelly is great for munchies. It's 2 syns for the whole packet made up, I can only really eat a quarter of a sachet at a time so it's a half a syn snack. Lasts in the fridge for up to a week too.

God that group does seem like it should of gone out with the ark! :rotfl:
I'm not going back to group, it's so big that by the time she's gone through the losses of 40 people there isn't time for sod all else, plus I cant keep the baby still and she 'shooshed' him really loudly last week, which I though was a bit rude.
I find I get much more support from here and the FB group!

Yes it's the textures! I cant just eat any old sweet thing, it has to have a certain texture to it, was going to try the 'roulade' and someone posted a recipie for a donut style bread using Heb on the fscebook group.

Some people are so crass and unthinking, and it's times like this that you realise. I understand how f-i-l would be wanting to share the good news about his daughter, but to then go on about others having cancer is very insensitive. I'm surprised your OH or even m-i-l didn't give him a sharp kick or nudge, or even a very hard Paddington stare to stop him from doing it. In truth these people don't even know they're doing it, and are oblivious to upsetting you, and certainly aren't doing it on purpose... just hold on to that thought, and know it's not done to upset you, even though that's exactly what happens.

Good advice from DKAM, so bear that in mind peachy.

Today is WI day, so it's going to be lots of fruit and not much else prior to weigh in. Urgh! and I won the bl00dy raffle again last week (that I'd provided the prize for, because I won the week before), so what on earth do I take in this week? I've had a look through the SW mags for recipe ideas, but struggle to see how I can buy everything needed for £5. Lots of the stuff is store cupboard stuff, like dried chillies & the seasoning. I put together a beef casserole last week. What I don't want to do is to make a bag of !!!! food, which is what I won the 1st week (bought by the Consultant), which had the nastiest looking bacon (99p) I'd ever seen, battery hen eggs (can't use these on principle), 3 mushrooms, and 2 tomatoes. I think that would have cost about £2.50, and it was poor quality food. I don't want other members to have that, as I think it's important to try to eat the best quality food you can afford.

I tried to do ingredients for a SW quiche, but it always comes out at over £5. The only other idea I've had is to do a bag of free snacks. I've thought Pasta & Sauce, Mugshots, yogurts & some fruit. Anyone got any ideas, or had to do the £5 raffle bag themselves?
What about going into the £1 shop and getting things like the backing sheet for doing s/w chips on also food containers ,crips , sweetner ,the little things like that cost the money :)
