Sorry to hear about the loss of your dad - my lovely dad died 2 years ago in September 2008 and there's days that it's so raw that it feels like it was yesterday but there are days when I can think about him and smile at the memories. Grief is so hard and there's no way round it, you just have to make your way through it - big hugs peachyest xx. sad0126.gif

Ermm I am at/below target [my sig!] :p, had an mot at Drs recently and BMI is fine. I'm not under weight for my height but am struggling to maintain target. Its just as hard if not harder trying to maintain as it is losing the weight in the 1st place. The easiest thing is putting the damn weight on, now THAT goes on so easy and none of us have trouble with that :rotfl:

Ok - lets say what I really meant :o

If you are struggling to get lower than you are now, even though you have been lower, maybe that is what your body wants your target weight to be.

Some times our bodies know what they want and no matter what we do it will not cooperate.

I may be new to Slimming World and this thread but I am no stranger to dieting - seems I have lost 200+ stones over the years but the little beggers keep finding me again - wish they wouldn't bring their friends though!

Can i up my syn leavel to 15 syn a day or will that make it hard for me to lose or maybe 12syns , finding it hard at moment , heads all over the place xxxx

I'd say definitely up your syns. You've proved you can manage on less if you have to but you don't have to at the moment. As someone else said, it's good to have some slack to cut away if you reach a plateau in the future. You'll enjoy a few treats and I always find it adds some variety to the menu if you can use a bit of extra cheese or cornflour in recipes.

So far I'm really chuffed with my progress - really enjoying the cooking from scratch and have made some very tasty meals - a super spicy parsnip soup which really helped at work for lunch, the quiche, spaghetti & meatballs and lastnight a lovely hm curry - DH reckoned it smelt as good as a takeaway and tasted even better!:j

Anyway, the only thing that's bothering me at the mo is portion size ... I really really enjoyed the curry last night IYKWIM ... is it possible to have tooooo much? At the end of the day there was absolutely no fat in it and there was less than 500g of chicken in the whole thing and it fed me, DH and a small portion left over for lunch one day. Does this sound OK? Will I still lose some lard??

I did have a sneaky weigh in yesterday and was 3lb down already ... promise I won't get back on the scales until Thursday morning :A

    Nice to "meet" you all,

    Ali

I'd say that 4oz is probably enough meat for everyday meals although it is good to have a big, juicy steak on occasion (sorry veggie members:o). I suppose because I'd read all the tips on OS board before starting SW, I'm used to bulking out meals with veggies and lentils so that's helped a lot.

Congratulations on taking the plunge and becoming a SW member. Now the only way is down as they say! All I'd comment on your menu is that it seems a bit loaded towards free foods. You must have your (at least) a third of superfrees too. Apologies if you have just left out detail:o

Personally, we have no scales in the house (OH threw them away a few years ago because we didn't like what they were telling us) so I'm not tempted to have sneaky WIs mid-week. It must be really hard for on-line members and those going it alone. I find how loose my clothes feel a good indicator or better still if I can get into a smaller size!:)

thank you magnolia , still can't get my head around it , can't sleep and find anything a chore , miss him so much x

There are days I still miss my dad - he was such a large part of our lives after mum died. We never went anywhere without him coming with us.

We were sat on the beach in Pefkos last summer and out of the blue dad popped into my mind. I turned to my DH and said 'dad would have loved it here'. This took us down the route of remembering previous holidays when he had been with us. Like the time he got drunk in Croatia and took a lady (ahem!) back to his room with him but couldn't remember much about it. We got some mileage from that one:rotfl:

There will come a time when you will start to remember him in the happier times and remember things he liked and disliked and laugh over them.

Grief is an unwelcome bedfellow but we just have to put up with it until it is time for him to leave.

One thing I do know - your dad wouldn't want you making yourself ill over him so make sure you look after yourself as well. Give yourself time to grieve and if need be have a good old pity party all to yourself. Its very cathartic.

Hi all, hope you've all had a lovely weekend. I've been busy making sugar flowers for my wedding cake while OH has been outside prepping an area of the garden to put up the greenhouse my parents bought us as an engagement present. I've been really tired all day, feel like I was out partying all night last night when I was actually oh here all evening then tucked up in bed at a sensible time!!!

I've gone for a green day today as I had a small brekkie, went for a walk and was STARVING when I got back and really wanted something naughty so I had a fibre plus bar. I also ended up having a taste of OH's toastie at lunch so have decided not to have the stuffing I'd planned for tea to make up for it!!

Brekkie - tinned toms, 1 egg scrambled
Snack - fibre plus bar (HEB)
Lunch - small jacket potato, cottage cheese with tuna and sweetcorn, large mixed salad, salad cream (1), balsamic, mint sauce, bite of toastie (2)
    Snack - pineappple and grapes
Tea - roast chicken, sw roast spuds, cabbage, carrots, green beans, onions, gravy (2)
    HEA - milk in teas.

Weren't you tempted to lick your fingers when you were doing those flowers? It must have been a huge temptation!

I wanted to ask what sort of gravy you'll have for 2 syns? Is it granules or do you make your own? Enjoy your meal.:)
  • Just an update- I did end up going to see the nurse, and without giving you all TMI suffice to say its all fine and they are not worried about it.
    :T

    Phew.

Not sure what's for dinner tonight - I rather fancy some soup again, but will attempt to have something else for my friend's sakes :rotfl:
