Aww sorry you're having a rubbish time hun :(

You say you're worried about comfort eating/eating too much....but looking at what you've listed its all within plan & you have the superfrees :D so you're not breaking any rules there ;)

im just worried about not managing my appetite very well and portion control as i can look at a carrot and gain 2lbs it seems ....

    but thank you love xx

  • Hello ladies. After many times on this board saying I won't ever "diet" again I have decided to give SW a go. I like the idea of intuitive eating but just can't manage the sweet stuff :o:o
Hope I can join you all :D I am doing it on my own (not attending meetings) so looking forward to lots of tips and recipe ideas.

Quick questions though - would HM wholemeal bread count as a healthy extra? Does anyone have any reasonably syn friends treats that you can make yourself, I don't want to be spending a fortune on processed stuff TBH and I am used to baking my own cakes and biccies (which is probably got me here in the first place ;):o) Oh and I am not really keen on fruit, just don't like it :o

    Many thanks

Hey Bitsy :) Nice to see you've ventured over from OS board. Taplady does SW too, so there are a few OSer's on SW!

I do SW at home by myself too, and I count HM wholemeal bread as a healthy extra with no problems. Just need to weigh it (57g).

I can't give much help with the baking side as I try not to when on SW. I get my sweet hit from sugar free jelly (0.5syns per quarter of sachet when made up) and LF creme fraiche (1.5syns per tablespoon), and fruit.

    HTH and good luck!

I was going to say exactly the same, there is hardly any food there at all ....Is this an EE day?

You really do need to be having 1/3 of your plate filled with superfree fruit or veggies for the plan to work :o
I can only get 1/3 superfree when i do certain recipes as i dont like them on their own (don't like any other fruit). It felt like loads of foods to me but them im used to eating one meal a day so haven't go used to this yet. :o

  • Green day for me:

B - oats (HEB), FF yog, strawberries
L - HM SF spicy carrot and lentil soup
D - 2 x jacket spuds, cheese (HEA and HEB), LF coleslaw (3.5syns), salad
Snacks - banana, 2 x clementines, pineapple, jelly (0.5syns), LF creme fraiche (1.5syns)
Drinks - water, NAS squash, coffee (skimmed milk = HEA), green tea, fizzy water
Exercise - 3 hours lugging boxes (again! last time though!!), 20mins wlak in toning boots

    Total syns = 5.5

Still have a few syns so may have something yummy later, I did want Kitkats but they only had 4 finger ones in Morrisons :( so didn't buy them.

I got the new magazine so will be reading that later :) Oddly they didn't have it in Morrisons so had to pop to Tesco too!

As for the middle of the night toilet thing - yes it is definetly SW related, but when I have to get up in the night these are the weeks I have my best losses so every cloud and all that.:Tx
Oooh do you reckon if I get up twice I'll have really BIG losses (in the weight dept, not the wee dept)? Might stop moaning about waking in the night :D

Hi greenpixey, could you just use all milk and then HEA your portion depending on how many it feeds. It wouldn't be as rich as using cream but it would be a darn sight more healthier. I think something like yogurt would split in the heat of the oven.

Might try this myself as I love gratin/dauphinois.. its sooo comforting on these cold wet windy nights.

You can make other sauces using stock rather than milk (either "real" stock or oxo etc) or you could do mostly stock and then add some creme fraiche or similar to make it creamy.

Well today is going to be EE.
I'm also likely to be going out to yo sushi for dinner tomorrow! I'm planning on eating before I go and then just eating rice (I assume this is free?) but I think we're going to be short on time which is not good.
Isn't most of the stuff free at Yo Sushi? As long as you choose seaweed wraps, rice, vegetables and fish/prawns you would surely be ok? I may well be wrong as I don't have a food directory, but frankly I certainly would NOT eat just rice when I am out :D
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

This is NOT going to be a good weigh in week for me... I support Crewe and they beat local rivals Port Vale at the weekend who I hate with an absolute passion, so went on a little bit of a huge drinking binge on Saturday night... Admittedly I then spent the whole of yesterday running around (Paintballing) and have been to the gym every day, but still think the weekend may put a bit of a spanner in the works...

oohh I'm in Crewe, there was a bit of trouble at the match from what I have heard, flying chairs etc.... plus all the pubs shut on Nantwich Road Saturday afternoon.

On other note I have lurked quite a bit on here, joined SW last year and lost a stone but put 6.5lb back on over christmas including 2 at my WI on saturday so was a bit gutted, I forgot the last of the Christmas chocolate that I had eaten last week so back on plan thsi week - I do EE as I find it the easiest.

    Morning all
I feel like giving up! Had lost 15lb now 7lb back on. Just cant seem to get into it. Defin. comfort eating at the moment. So could do with a wee bit of inspiration. I am a member of a club. Need a good kick up the behind really.

Have a look through the folowing list and see if anything there helps with motivation:-

How to succeed with Slimming World

    1. Set realistic goals - changing too much at once is setting yourself up for a fall

    2. PLAN - planning ahead really is the key. There is no point starting a diet if you shopped yesterday and the cupboards are filled with snacks.

    3. SW is a healthy eating plan for LIFE not a faddy diet - include the things you love... everything in moderation

    4. Use your syns - they are there to help you and stop you feeling deprived. Starting off thinking you are being good not using your syns won’t work long term.

    5. Follow any eating plan 100% - half hearted attempts and tweaking things here and there may not give you the results you expect

    6. If you slip up don't worry - just try again... NEVER GIVE UP

    7. Put a photo of yourself on the fridge of how you used to look or cut a figure out of a magazine of how you'd like to look.

    8. Don't stick with the same food. Have plenty of variety & try out new recipes & foods so you don't get bored. This is not a diet just a healthy way of eating!

    9. Set yourself treats/rewards for each mini goal you reach - things such as an hour reading or a manicure, new book, massage - it doesn't have to be expensive but something you don't normally make time for.

    10. Before you eat something with a large syn value ask yourself the question "Is it worth the syns" if you don’t know the value check them out first.

    11. Measure yourself on a monthly basis, you might not have lost much weight in one month but you will have lost Inches!!!

    How strange.
We were given a Lasagna recipe by our SW leader in Jan last year that was synfree and it told us to use the Macaroni Cheese :( Thanks for the heads up x

This sounds like a very old recipe. It used to be free (as did many tinned and highly processed foods) but that all changed a loooong time ago and the emphasis now is on fresh foods cooked from scratch.
