Thank you both Skint_Catt and TakeItEazy... I guess that home ec poster does ring some bells now and makes sense! I'm so used to hearing 'you have to cut out ALL bad foods, eat lettuce and go to the gym 24/7' that it's refreshing to have a sensible solution!
I'm quite excited to find out the A and B foods, plus the free foods now!
I see lots of people are talking about the 'extra easy' plan, as well as green and original...is there an option to pick which plan you do or is it group majority/leader specific?
And last question (promise!) do you recieve a booklet with all syn amounts listed or is it available online somewhere?

Hoping to be in here regularly now, seat well taken! Thanks guys! :D

"diet" to me always meant cutting out all the bad stuff so it was something I did for a day / couple of days then got bored and gave up ! SW was a revelation. I could still have wine and chocolate - I just had to limit what I had but a little bit of something is better than none at all !!

I expect the consultant will explain the extra easy plan to you - I can't get my head round it because I am a red/green girl but Extra Easy really is worth its weight in gold. You can choose between the plans you want to follow so during the week so you could have a couple of green days, couple of red, couple of extra easy - whatever takes your fancy. I am sure the consultant will go through a green/red day with you if you ask her.

You will get your food optimising book when you join tomorrow and this will explain about the plans and also contains a guide to products and their syn values. You can buy from class a Food Directory which contains syn values to thousands of products and also gives details of syn values for eating out. Once you have joined up tomorrow though, you should be given the details you will need to get online to the SW site - this has an online syns directory so you can search for almost anything !!

To all those who asked about the fish pedicure.....it was amazing!! :D It was at a proper spa in Cardiff (called Year of the Tiger). The spa is a small one but very nice, and the staff are lovely. The fish were well looked after (so they told us - the staff not the fish! :rotfl:). You soak your feet in normal water first for few mins, then you put them into the tanks with the fish for half hour. The fish just gently nibble you so you barely feel it, it's more ticklish than anything else. It's fascinating to watch the fish! Afterwards you feet are dried off and we went into treatment rooms and had a half hour foot massage with reflexology which was to die for :) so relaxing! I'd recommend it to everyone.

Food wise yesterday.....it was slightly off plan as I had a dlice of Bruscheta and then ice cream at the theatre, but I bought a plain salad for lunch, took a bag of fruit to snack on before/after spa, and we went to Frankie&Bennies for dinner where I had the penne arribiatta (toms/garlic/chilli sauce) so that was good choice especially when I could have had pizza or a veggie burger!! :) I'll count the day as a flexi day and just cut back on the syns today so hopefully that will balence it out.

lol,you gotta love the squaddies! :D

I love squaddies too! I have a 'friend' who is a squaddie, when he comes home we get together but he is normally based 7 hours away from me, and is abroad on training at moment so we aren't a couple or anything.

    Good morning all
    Happy Birthday Skint-slimmer :j
and "whoop whoop" on your loss magnolia :T

2lbs off for me this week :j-so the scales didn't need a kick afterall tongue.gif...
although I think that Im going to have to buy a new set of scales mad.gif I have thought for a while that Im not as light as they say I am... by quite a way, I had them new when I first started so i know I have still lost the 103lbs - but I reckon I was heavier than they said to start with.... Im more annoyed about the scales because they are soooo expensive out here, rather than having more weight to lose as I KNOW I can do it... so next time Im out I will bite the bullet and buy a new pair,
Hubby hasn't gone for his game of golf this morning as his knees are playing up ,,and here was me all set to get back into my Sunday routine -instead he is lolling on the sofa watching cricket *yawwwwn*
Has MR Dizzy got back on the golf course yet Dizzy?

Anyhoo -I have got all the ingredients from the basement store to make my vat of 12 speed soup -which I will do when I have finished here.....(that will teach hubby to upset my routine :rotfl:)

So then Im giving EE a whirl this week *gulp* ... and todays menu should look like this (ooohh please shout me if Im making a clanger as Im soooo used to red/green days) :-
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • orange
    • apple
    • 1/2 grapefruit
    • minty lamb casserole
    • mashed potato
    • cabbage
    • nobbies
    • carrots
    • broccoli
    • frozen strawberries
    • frozen cherries
    • activia intensely (2.5)
    • 1/2 grapefruit
    • 12 speed soup
    • strawberries
    • lychee
    • activia intensely (2.5)
    • 250ml semi (6)
    • fibre plus (B)
Now then -I make that 1A, 1B and 11syns and by my reckoning enough superfree, although I will no doubt snaffle a few more bits of fruit as I go too biggrin.gif
right I had better get off and get my soup on ..
Have a lovely day everyone and keep at it!!

Hi to everyone, I have just found this thread :)

I started SW last year, and lost 3 st 10 lbs, almost got to my 4th stone then my class closed, and started travelling to a different one. From that point onwards I yo-yo'ed, every time I got nearer that 4 stone loss, I gained 1, then lost 1, stayed the same.. you know the pattern:(
Then I had a few weeks where I couldn't go.. and gained 8 lbs.. wasn't happy, so managed to lose that, and was back on track until the week before Christmas.

Then theings went pretty bad- there were big family problems over Christmas, and left me so down that I went to the fridge and ate...and I haven't stopped.

I wasn't able to get to class for the last few weeks as my car was off the road and it was an expensive repair. I am still feeling low ( trip to the docs looming) but I know that if I started getting some motivation back I'd probablyt start to feel a bit better about that side of things.
I am now worried about going back ( WI is on Fridays)
I even had take away with my daughter last night... not good!
I keep getting messages from my consultant ( who is lovely) asking me to come back.. but I'm not kidding when I say my jeans are tighter, and I look bloated, so i am sure I must have gained a stone.. I haven't even dared step on my own scales!!
I was doing so well, and need motivating big time. I know depression & diets don't alway mix well.. but my son bought me a Wii & all the board etc for Christmas, which i am loving :)

I jogged the race for life last year, and that was a real feat for me as I had had trouble getting up the stairs before I started SW.. and I vowed I would jog/run again this year, and wanted to do a 10k... but that seems a distant aim now!

Has anyone else had a really big gain over cristmas & holidays.. I am nervous about going and being weighed, but don;'t want to put on anymore after all that hard work last year.

Thank you for reading my waffling!!!

Ahh sweetie you sound like you've had a really tough time and that its important to you to have that support form attending a group.

Don't feel bad about any weight you've put on, just think if yo weren't going back this week it would probably be even more. Whats done is done and all you need to do now is move forward. Your consultant sounds fabulous and I'm so pleased she hasn't deserted you (that's what you get for giving out your mobile number ;)).

Go back this week with a really confident decision made that you'll get back that 4 stone loss and more.

Even better start eating healthily today so that by the time you go you aren't feeling bloated.

    Sam
