  • Sorry if this is a strange question, but can anybody here recommend a decent set of bathroom scales? Have been using a basic pair of asda smart price ones which said i'd lost around 3 lbs this week. However, weighed myself in boots today and apparently i've gained 1lb! I don't think I have gained as I have exercised daily and have devoutly stuck to the plan. Looking for a set that will give me an accurate reading, as I am a little confused right now.

I have a pair of weight watchers scales that show your weight and can also calculate your bmi and I find them reliable.
Remember though that you need to weigh yourself at the same time if day and whilst wearing similar weight clothes for your reading to be accurate.

I have a large red pepper and two small green peppers that need using up today. I thought I would do roast peppers to go with Roast chicken tonight.

Has anyone got any ideas what to drizzle over them to make them less boring. (syn free preferably) :)

I don't want to stuff them with anything

I had that last night although with all sorts of other bits of veg thrown in too. I would definitely add garlic (if you like it) and then fry-light (I'm a fan) and I put the balsamic at the start plus a little bit of stock if it starts to dry up. Also season and add a herb of your choice like thyme.

On the question of fry-light, has anyone tried mixing oil and water in their own spray? Oh and I always soften chopped onions in the microwave before frying as it speeds things up.

Perhaps someone can answer my question about breakfast cereal: In the book, most cereals are coupled with various crispbreads. My preferred cereal is Puffed Wheat and as it's very light I get a generous portion. It's paired with scanbran_pale_:(. Does anyone know if I can just skip it or how I can calculate an alternative like Ryvita?

Not a strange question at all. I'm sorry but I don't weigh at home so can't help. However I do have some smartprice food scales which are equally carp. Would anyone recommend good kitchen scales, please? I've never really needed them before as I don't do baking (for obvious reasons:o)

I have these kitchen scales, from MrT, which are very good.
I like that you can reset them as you go, so you can measure everything into one bowl, if you know what I mean...

Hi all! WI last night and lost 2.5lb :T.
Also, am I the only person who doesn't worry about the ingredients in Frylight?!

Compare the ingredients of frylight olive oil:

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (56%),Water ,Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin), E473 ,Alcohol ,Antioxidant: Vitamin E

    with a common margarine:

Vegetable Oils (42% Seed Oils),Buttermilk (29%) ,Water ,Skimmed Milk ,Cream ,Salt (1.7%) ,Emulsifiers (E471, Soya Lecithin) ,Natural Flavourings ,Vitamins (E, A & D) ,Colour (Natural Beta Carotene)

So I may be having an extra E number in my frylight compared to pure olive oil, but I'm having one less E number from not having margarine on my sandwiches anymore.

Im non too stressed about frylight either to be honest ;) tho I do find sometimes it can 'blacken' quickly when frying certain things....but seeing as its free I just give it a top up spray :p

Well done on the loss too :T:T

I got some from argos, cant remember the exact model, but they are weight watchers digital - they look like the big old salter ones like they use in the docs. They are FAB accurate all the time exactly as SW ones weigh and cost £39.99. (but dont do BMI or anything)

My only prob is Mr Dizzy has removed them & put them out of reach as I'm a bit of a liability trying to get on scales when I'm in the house on my own :o:rotfl:

I always skip the scanbran/ryvita option with the cereals cos I can't stand them and haven't had any issues. It's not the official SW way to do it though. :o

aaah I thought that might have been it - I got her book for Xmas - I luuuurve nigella so much but her food is sooo fatty! I usually avoid the SW recipes and just adapt my old faves tho, so thanks for the tips on how to SW this recipe, saved me the job! :D I was thinking of doing it with slices of potato instead of the tortillas.

Oh potato slices would work well too. I always just adapt recipes to be SW friendly, it's so simple to do!

I have half a tin of green lentils in the fridge - any idea what I could do for lunch using them???

Cor blimes, I don't usually eat green lentils any more because they signify the beginning of a ridiculously long period of windy days for me :rotfl: However, if you are adamant and wind-proof, then try them with salad, or mixed in to mash, or in your next soup (I think they would freeze ok if you weren't making it for a while) or in anything with mince like lasagne or bolognaise...

I don't think there is an answer you will like to this :( I don't think there is a way to calculate an alternative, although I'm happy if someone else can correct me here. Some people go through the plan just not having the scan bran, but its obviously there for a reason. Sorry :o

Got tempted by a small portion of cheese and biccies last night :o still, only a week until i am back in my own house and there won't be things like that in my cubbies, nor people offering them to me! :T

I'm going for a day at a time at the moment, until I'm back at my own home - too many things scuppering my days which start off well. so hopefully I want a day on plan today. Its evenings which are the ruin of me at the moment :o

    My day so far:
    • alpen light (1/2 b)
    • milk in t&cs (a)
    • Spaghetti hoops
    • baked beans and cheese on toast (a b)
    To come:
    • jacket spud & some low fat philly (3?)
    • 1/2 a mini quiche (4.5)
    • salad
    • melon & grapes
    • alpen light (1/2 b)
    • a chocolate brownie (mum's made these and I can't resist :o ) (syns... ??? but hopefully still within the day's limit!)
