Are Oat so simple a HEB, and if so is it just the plain one?
I just checked my book and its not in there but it's online. I can only find the plain one and you need to have 1 Ryvita as well I didn't know that bit. Need to get back in the habit of checking things out.

  • I'm back. It hasn't taken long to realise how much I DISLIKE the new website. Not only is it slow and often refuses to let us in ... there's no direct link from the home page to syns etc, and I cannot see mention of a Hall of Fame anywhere. Also, for a company making so much money they don't refresh the featured recipes very often, that brown  fruit compote has been on the Coffee Break pages for weeks (yup, I even looked on the Coffee Break pages for hall of fame!)
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

Hi all, just had a read through and wanted to add my congratulations on everyone's weight losses!!:T some of them are outstanding - all of them are fabulous!!!

Have done the Shred again today so i'm aching all over.. i didn't even know some muscles existed - but they're all going OWWWWWW now :rotfl:

Unfortunately i've eaten a little bit of cake today so the calories i've burnt exercising have been wasted :( - it probably worked out about a small cupcake size amount, so i've no idea of syns. I make novelty/wedding cakes as a hobby and have a recipe to make tonight that i've never made before. I daren't give it to the recipient without a taste test incase it's gross so i had to try a little bit... on the plus side it was bloody lovely! :D

    will do better tomorrow...

    Extra easy day

    B - apple, yogurt, 2 x ryvita (HEB)
L - Spaghetti hoops, side salad, french fries crisps (4.5)
T - turkey and leek pie (EE cookbook)
S - satsumas, fruit salad, milk in tea (HEA)

From tomorrow i am starting to write out my food diary again.. maybe this will keep me on track more. I haven't been awful but i know the "picking" won't have helped and i will probably STS this week.

    Night all x

Do you have a recipe (or link to one) for the chicken paprikash? I LOVE paprika, especially the smoked one!

The one in the SC book wasn't the same as the one I generally use and I will be going back to the original as mine was better :D. Here it is... (OH lived in Hungary for 5 years and has given it the seal of approval :))

    Chicken paprikash

    Ingredients (serves 2)

    2 Chicken breasts
½ tbsp Olive oil (fry lite to reduce syns)
1 large knob Butter (can be left out)
    ¼ large onion, finely chopped
    2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
    1 tbsp sweet paprika
½ tbsp hot paprika (reduce if want milder and increase the sweet paprika amount)
1 tsp plain flour (syns ??)
    60 ml chicken stock
    ½ handful flat-leaf parsley, chopped
½ red pepper, seeds removed and cut into 1cm strips
2 large ripe Tomatoes, (or 3 canned will do)
    65ml Soured cream, or Smetana
    Salt and pepper to taste

    To serve
Gnocchi, Potato wedges, mash potatoes, or Jacket potatoes maybe.

    Method

1.For the chicken paprikash: chop chicken. Heat the oil and butter in a large, wide pan. Add the chicken pieces and fry until golden all over. Remove and set aside.

    2. In the same pan, fry the onion and garlic for about 5 minutes. Stir in the paprika, then the flour, until blended (add extra oil only if necessary to slacken), being careful not to let it burn as it will make the paprika bitter.

    3. Gradually pour in most of the stock, stirring as you do, then stir for 5 minutes until thickened to make a thick gravy base. Stir in the rest of the stock and some boiling water if it looks a bit thick or dry. Mix in half of the parsley and bring to the boil. Add the tomatoes and cook over a low heat for about an hour to develop the flavour and reduce liquid. Return the chicken pieces to the pan Stir in the red pepper, salt & pepper and simmer for 10 minutes.

    4. When the chicken is cooked, stir in the soured cream and the remaining parsley. Adjust the seasoning. Maybe cook down more - dependent on taste.

    5. To serve: Serve with your chosen sides topped with a dollop of soured cream and a sprinkling of paprika.

I am sure if you prefer smoked to hot it would be just as lovely. I do think Hungarian paprika is the only one to use for this though. I've put the original recipe so using frylite and leaving out the butter will reduce.... but sour cream cannot be left out - sorry.

    Hope you like it xxx
