Not being difficult asking this, just trying to understand. How did people that only use main used to enter the ones posted in regulars? I mean like 6 months ago...
Can't really answer for everyone else but I used my own comps database and still do as I can open all of the daily - weekly - Monthly comps into ff tabs with just one click

I use Firefox with the add-ons Bar Tabs and AFOM and normally open 200-300 tabs + but I did once successfully open up 700 tabs by setting different priorities for all of the various programs loaded into memory via Windows Task Manager
I use Multi Links to save all of the comps into Firefox's Bookmarks manager (you need to change the settings in Multi Links to bookmarks) I do this twice a day and save the bookmarks into a folder marked "Tomorrows Comps" once mid afternoon and once at midnight I then sort the comps into date order (twice a day) and by doing so with just one click I can see if any need entering A.S.A.P. I can also see at a glance how many comps need entering the following day from within the Bookmarks Manager, the following day I then select as may links that I want to do and open them into tabs (I usually just select them all)
after I have finished entering all of the comps I delete the bookmarks in readiness for the next day's comps bookmarks
see my post's here for further info

I have updated my computer since I made the first post and can now open up a lot more tabs!
I bookmark and tag all of the Daily-Weekly-Monthly and to do comps (future entry comps) and add them into my Mitaggedmarks database
Hope this helps!

thats way way to organised and disciplined for me amilucky lol i can never find anything in my bookmarks theres so many of them :rotfl: i keep meaning to sort them and go through the existing folders to see what others need added or what can be deleted, same as i keep meaning to organise my photos which win7 improrted but ignored the neat folders on the most part
very impressed that you are so organised with it though0 -
Thanks to all involved in my first post, which went astray for a while.
I don't mind a bit of spam or the odd telephone sales, it was more in case there was something more serious I was letting myself in for, that I hadn't noticed, or which someone may have knowledge of.
Thanks again.

Re-visiting the guessed end dates - Previous points made were that a) posters use different formats b) "?" can't be used in search anyway c) "guess" or something similar might take up valuable title space.
I understand that some end date compers, after their routine for entering comps, might actively search for guessed end dates to ensure they don't miss out on comps that close early. To make this easier:-
[STRIKE]Idea 1 - one of the end date compers (who would benefit from this) could maintain a list of search terms to find the competitions from companies who post frequent comps without end dates eg.
moremagazine
thedetour
69 AND 247
loaded AND viewcompetition
50connect
reviewedonline
The list could be kept somewhere like post #3 of the daily sticky[/STRIKE].
Idea 2 - A specific term such as "guessedenddate" with no spaces could be inserted into every comp with a guessed end date to make searching work precisely. It doesn't need to be in the title. It doesn't even need to be in post #1 so the first person who notices it could add a post to any thread with a guessed end date where it is missing from the OP.
I think idea 2 would be better than 1 solely because the work is shared out. I post comps for all those sites used in the example and I would just incorporate "guessedenddate" into the template I use so it would actually be no extra work at all.0 -
Excellent idea One-Eye
I don't comp. by end date, but I am sure that the compers who do will find this useful. I don't mind doing the earling morning shift, looking for the question marks and noting on the thread with "guessed end date". I have just started, with my last three posts:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3016794 ~ just one of them for an example
I only hope that I don't get chased outta town by the anti-bumpers
Due to majority consensus (2) I will not be bumping threads with guessed end date.
Never put tables and chairs in the same room.
If they congregate together for any length of time, they will inevitably hatch plots against you and your pets.

Great idea One Eye.I'll try and add it in my future posts. If I get the time I'll edit it in a few old ones as well.
I take it that we will be inserting................ guessedenddate0 -
I usually do a check for threads with wrong title formats a few times a day, and often spot ones with ?? in the title so if I do and it hasn't already been posted I'll post guessedenddate on thethread
and it could be added to velvets comp guide tooI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
