Sorry about that purplecatlover. If I'd put todays date in there was a chance that it would be moved early,as has happened with the bag comps etc.
Any suggestions as to how to format the title to avoid it getting moved but help the end date compers?0 -
sorry weeowens none
it wouldnt be an issue if they all stayed put until the morning after the end date so E:10/02 would stay until tomorrow some time...but then people complain about that too so its another cant please every one situation
personally the likes of the bag comp i would do as an ongoing thread in regulars and update each week (and post with links on main if wanted). that way end daters who use the weekly (or the one day entry only section in dailies if its another one day only thing) wont miss it as it can be linked then and people who comp by newly posted on main wont miss it either. that way everyone gets the chance at it but my :money: to that idea is someone elses
another one here folkstwitter comp

Agree while it's on main and comps get moved during the day on the day they finish posting with the next day as the end date gets round that....but makes it difficult not to miss them if you're behind and not entering as comps are posted.
One idea, may be rubbish but I'll say it anyway......perhaps people could post these comps that really end the day before stated with a specific, not often used for anything else, icon so that there's something for end date compers to look out for on the listings?0 -
It's worth people who comp by closing date noting that you will miss out any comp that isn't posted with the end date in the usual format:
i.e. E: dd/mm xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
where there is a space between E: and the rest of it, and where there are always 2 digits for the day and month (e.g. E: 01/03 will get sorted into a different order than E:01/03 or E: 1/03)
Personally I tend not to sort by closing date at the moment as I'm able to generally keep up with the comps, but I usually post on the comps to ask the OP to change the format to help those people who can't spend as much time comping and who do it by closing date.
It turns out that some people take this as a criticism and not as as it is intended (trying to be helpful), so I won't be doing this any more.
So if you do comp by closing date, make sure you double check you've got all the comps for that date !thingamaBob wrote: »There used to be a sticky thread specifying how the End Date should be formatted.
Do people think that No End Date/Wrong format problems have increased since that was merged into the one PLEASE READ sticky?
There will always be people who don't like being told the correct way to do things and probably more so when the message is just from another forum user. It may be more effective if the BG's were to take the lead in this. I know they are busy and their time is not unlimited but Glad has mentioned in the past that she does scan the board and amend problems when she sees them but perhaps this would take less time if people could be persuaded to do it right in the first place.so hopefully people won't miss many that have a wrong title format

your not automatically subscribed to things you post any more (though replying to a thread does seem to still subscribe you) so a lot of ops dont notice comments on the thread.0

There is an option in UserCP where you can select to be notified for threads you post/reply to. It's under Edit Options - Messaging and Notification - Default Thread Subscription Mode.
I didn't know it was there and have always done it manually as and when.0 -
ill have to go look for it in the morning and check, cheers thingmabob
i tend to manually sub to ones i want to watch, but find if i comment it invariably sunscribes me even when i dont want lol and posting a new thread it doesnt subscribe me....but i could be basing that on how it used to work or some such thing :rotfl:

What exactly do you mean by "entry form service" do you mean where you swap entry forms for competitions? If you do, then there is this one:-
