I'm really really sorry to have to raise this again and please, please, I don't want start a row over this... I've posted it here as I don't know whether it'll be seen on the thread in regs as folk entering the comp will just go to the OP, rather than scrollling down.
I am desparately trying to do the right thing & not upset / offend anyone, but I have to ask as I'm just so confused...
Errrm, I've obviously missed a hell of a lot of policy changes / decision making ...
Why has the Hello comp I posted earlier today been merged into regs, rather than with the comp I duped (due to there being no reference to Hello magazine in it, so search didn't stand a chance) here?
I haven't duped a comp here, (regs.) Previous comps there all had different questions & prizes and are over as they had end dates.
I asked, nay pleaded, on AmIlucky's post that was on the main board here for clarification, but got none...
What is going on?Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -
because your post on main contained links tot he actual comp rather than links to the post with todays prize details and the thread....id guess
id also like to point out that the poll identifies the hello comp as a regular comp. the only thing that changes is the prize and the choice of whom to vote for....method of entry is the same, web page link is the same. i could go back to a link from 4 weeks ago and still be presented with 5 or 6 pictures and enter despite the fact that the prize is different
if a new prize (with an end date for that specific comp) means its a new comp then there area heck of a lot of comps int he daily thread as well as in the weekly and monthly thread that need posted up on main every single time the prize changes
posting them in ongoing threads thus allowing links in the reg stickies and posting links to the new post and thread (as one eye has done) is a compromise that means people not entering by newly posted on main dont miss out as we do when things are posted with the wrong end date to stop them being moved to go to early (eg the bag comp with tomorrows end date, many will not see that until tomorrow when its too late to enter) or just because there are way too many threads and not enough time to look at every thing on main and check its not duplicated in regs before entering
it was asked a few times before but never answered...why is it acceptable to dupe a post if its only been posted in an ongoing thread in regs but not acceptable to dupe a post on main? whats the difference please?0 -
I must admit grannybiker I was surprised to see that the comp on Regulars for this was posted by me with an ONGOING header. I know that I didn't put the date as that because BHG found the end date for me (we discuss it further down the thread) so I would guess that has been done by a BG.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

But the post on regs is to an expired comp - the Op mentions singing lessons!
I didn't dupe this. I duped One-Eyes post that was posted earlier on the main boardWorse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -
its a weird decision that same url comps are ongoing I think by MSE Andrea. Its sorta explained in her Sticky post.
AMilucky comp post stays, as there was a trial somewhere in this thread, discussing if it was ok to dupe comp threads to main that were on Regs, which MSE Andrea agreed too as long as the new thread linked to Reg thread and not to the actual comp..
I just wish that if its double posted it had a bigger tag in the title as I keep missing and getting confuddled with it just having (R) in the title - think that (REG) would have been much easier to notice.
I've given up trying to understand tbh, as I am just more and more confused now, and have actually started to venture to loquax to see what its like there. My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

What is going on?
Hi GB
as Andrea has posted on the Hello thread in regs that she thinks it makes sense to have that thread as an ongoing thread updated with any weekly changes it's not for me to change things atm
she has posted in her 'new beginning' thread that it's ok to post a thread on mains every week with an end date linking to the thread on regs but not posting the comp link so that entering is via the original and nobody dupes entries (as One-Eye did today), so everyone on mains will see it too
however as this is still causing confusion I've pm'd her over the weekend and asked for clarification, there are some other changes going on at the moment on the forums, that she is dealing with, so rather than pester her I'm waiting for her to get back to usI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. i just know that I don't like dupes, I don't like confusion, and with this happening now, am starting to prefer to have everything on one board, with the stickies here too.My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

Well in that case, then Daybreak Spa holiday comp posted earlier is ongoing as they have re-used an old URL . Not for the first time, and they aren't the only ones to do this. By this reckoning, are these too ongoing?

Which means people searching won't be able to find it if there's no mention and then they'll dupe, as I did...

This comp's multiple entry anyhow, so duping's not an issue...

Am getting pretty fed up too...Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -

whatever Andrea decides, when we have clarification I'll ask velvetglove would she mind adding the new guidelines to her thread so we can have somewhere to link to, explaining how these threads linking to regs should lookI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I see what you mean but I'm leaving them until Andrea gets time to look at itit's just that as she has posted on the Hello regs thread I'd rather not go moving that one
Which means people searching won't be able to find it if there's no mention and then they'll dupe, as I did...
I think for now if people do a search and find a comp in regs they should either add to it there, or post in mains as One-Eye did today
