Sorry if this has been mentioned but I noticed today that after I view a thread, the topic still stays bold as if I never viewed it. Before, it use to go faint. Hope you understand my drivel?

:)My sister won one of the samsung netbooks in the robinsons squash competition which she gave to me for my birthday (lucky me!)
i feel like there may be some paperwork missing and wonder if any other winners can help.
i wanted to use micosoft word- 2007 appeared to be installed.
is this a trial version? it asked me for a product code when i opened it but have no product key with the netbook that i can see.
if anyone has started using this and can remember what they had to do , i would be very grateful for advice.
perhaps you would be kind enought to PM me.
hope this is the right place to put this request.
    many thanks!
  • broughton: a lot of new computers these days dont come with the full applications but just a trial version after which you can then choose to purchase it if you want it. i dont remember if the robinsons netbooks advertised having office installed or not.

Hi broughton. You could always install Open Office if you do not want to buy MS Office. It's free & works well.

No, Office is definitely installed but is more than likely a trial version for 60 days( I didn't do the original set-up). still requires a product key though. The Open office is a good suggestion for after that anyway, as i am not tempted to pay for office when i will hardly use it on a netbook. thankyou.
would still like to know if any winners had a product key with their prize.

I would doubt that anyone had a product key as what you describe is now common in PC sales. If you really want MS Office you should be able get a genuine disc for about £35.

Here's a new browser that I'm liking a lot considering it's based on internet explorer. Deepnet

A few useful things it has, a form filler similar to Roboform which you can customise, anti phishing checker, and for me a real beauty...floating pane killer.

Form filler's the thing I think though, for free. PW manager too.

I'm gonna try it a while and maybe use it as my comping browser for regulars for a while...that way I can just have comping bookmarks and all the details needed in one place.

Some people won't or can't pay for Robo, so as it's free this isn't a bad alternative and the form filler is certainly simpler IMO than RF.

No there was no product key. I think it lets you open word / powerpoint 25 times and then reverts to a "simple" version, which we've (so far) found enough. Think if you want to do complicated excel etc it doesn't do it, but it's enough for DS's homework!
