    Well done!

How much do you think you will need before you can start looking for a place?

    Suze

Well I hope that we can start looking when we get to £20,000; we live in Scotland so the system is a bit different up here - you have to put sealed bids in so unless you are willing to pay well over the odds then it can take a while to find somewhere :(

there's still a long way to go ...
    House Deposit Fund: £16,367.97 Target: [strike]£10,000[/strike] £15,000

Holiday Fund: £1904.96, ISA: £6300, Other Savings Pots: £1292.35
    Student Loan: ~£8000

I didn't realise that (although knew that differences in the system made it safer, eg no gazumping).

Hope you reach your target soon :D

Hi all, haven't posted for AGEEEEEEEES!

The house deposit is on hold as we're going on a trip round Oz this year (see how i'm thinking long term...not! oops!) also not sure how much ive saved, cos ive been saving like mad for Oz....does that count or not cos i'm technically spending it again?????

We do have nearly £4500 for the house between us, slowly but surely - thats for the house (NOT FOR OZ!) and our wages should be improving soon too so that will help that little fund!!

Anyway, the main news was to sell as much on ebay as poss (originally for house..now for the hol!), so i thought I didnt have much to sell...HOW WRONG WAS I. I can't believe what sells on ebay. Started everything at 99p and decided just to clear stuff out. Usually it would have gone in the bin...and to date I have made nearly £320 profit from ebay since January. Not constantly selling, but a batch of about 15items per month. Can't believe it!!!Just thought I'd keep you lovely lot informed!!! So that will help with my spends! YAY! If its not glued down .......IT GETS EBAYED!! :) (great thing is, im such a hoarder, its helping me clear stuff too!!)

:T well done to all you savers, those with massive house deposits and just anyone in general who is trying to save! well done!! :rotfl: :money:

Saving for a house deposit too, I've currently got just under £45,000 saved up but with my pitiful wage I'm still no closer to getting a house, bah!

Chelseablue! Love the name :D Not sure really, I've always been pretty good at saving, but then I'm pretty good at spending too so it doesn't really make a lot of sense! This is only my first proper year of working too, every year before this has been education, but I've done things like a lot of cashback offers (although not for the past couple of years really) and casinos etc to help boost the balance.

Its been a f***** month just gone - May that is - and I have been happy just to not dip into savings. Childcare costs :( I have just phoned up A&L to find out my current Direct saver balance as I actually did not remember how much I had in there!

So, my sucky balance is now at £17,863.48. Including my Olympic fund I now have £19,500 but I want to keep the money seperate as it is my 'free' money!
