(ave prices of a 3 bed here are £280000 ish  ) I have just started off with £1000 today and plan to save hard and fast! Thank-you everyone who has given me tips etc over the last year and a bit. I made it YIPPPEEEE. It is a great feeling having no debts whatsoever. (especially as I only work 5 hours a week for a measly £6.55 / hr!!!)

Hi folks. That's pretty much it for me with my savings for 2011. In 2012 I am signed up for the 12k in 2012 challenge. Hope to see some of you over there too.
Well done to everyone on their savings this year and best of luck for 2012.

Couldnt resist rounding up the pence on my savings balance so put £4.92 in to make a grand total of £7050!
I have also joined the 'save £12 in 2012' challenge even though I dont think I will be able to save the full amount but I thought that about the 'mortgage free in 3' challenge and somehow managed to pay it off. These challenges really motivate me to actually do it and its amazing how much you can achieve if you prioritise saving.
Well done everyone...keep it upSave £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

im so annoyed and p****d off. i saved my !!!! for 4-5 years (working every hour i possibly could) to save for a deposit for a flat (20.5k). i finally got a mortgage and moved in last month. i then find out that i will need to extend the lease on it (asap - as the price goes up over time, it will be easier to sell, add value to the property etc). ive found out it will be around 5k!!! i cant believe it, i buy a property and yet i still dont really own. f'king country. its a con. just another ploy to line the pockets of others.
my parents say i should relax and not bother about it too much as ive acheived quite a lot at my age (22). but its annoying, that 5k could be spent doing the place up, and maybe actually enjoying myself. thats life i spose : )
i will save about 150 pm, so should take me about 2-3 years......... hopefully!!!!!:beer:0 -

It gets worse, as the value of your flat isn't likely to be going up any time soon... the property game's a con and it's all still vastly overpriced. I'm staying at home until it drops another 20% (already has in real terms) and keep on saving. One big money pit. And when you look at what you can buy abroad for the same money, it makes you sick lol.
Well done on saving £888! Saved just over that myself - with Christmas presents this December my savings for January will be somewhat less.0
