Thank you. We got married in NYC and that's where I would love to go back to for our 10th but I want to do it in style if I can, hence the 4 years to save for it :)

Good luck with your saving for your trip to Oz

We've managed to squirrel £609.88 away this month! Wooop! Really looking forward to November as we finish paying our car then (£306) and our sofa (£120) which means we'll be £426 richer a month! Plan is for December we'll use half for christmas pressies/food/travel to see family etc and the othe half can be saved. Then from Jan we can really ramp up the savings!

Our aim is to have 10% deposit (based on average house price in Leicester) so £13.9k by Sept 2014 (3years after we've moved in together). It's doable but only if we really scrimp and live frugally :0)
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!

  • Hey can I join this thread.

Just began the journey of saving up for a house deposit. Aiming for 12k this year and hopefully looking to save a grand total of £20k by the end of next year. Im anticipating that this will be very difficult but very determined also.

The main reason being our house is too small and is we want another baby then we need a bigger place.

The dream is to be in a new house come Dec 2013 and to be expecting another baby then too :)

    A girl can dream eh?...............
    Mortgage deposit target April £9000

I was chatting with my boyf the other night about how much we've saved since we moved in together in Sept, which was about £14 away from 4k: so the sweetie transferred £20 he had earmarked for soending into our savings: so we are now at 4k in our savings accounts.

He said he knew how much I liked round numbers :0)

We're also listing some of our valued possessions (clutter) on ebay today as its free listing- Anything made will go straight to savings! Feeling very positive!

Hey all, I'm currently saving for a house deposit and have approx 75k saved since the turn of the year. I'm still living with the old man and managing to squirrel away around £1100 a month, as well as adding £480 a month to my pension fund (which includes employer contribution). He's quite happy for me to pay my way here for the moment, so no rush to get a mortgage. Will wait untill the time is right, and in the meantime increase my deposit fund.

Wow zekko that's impressive!! It's good you can save money on rent etc hole you save! When do you think you'll be looking to buy?

I've fallen off the wagon recently but I get paid soon and I'm hoping that I can get back on board with this pay cheque and see what I can do (with oh if I can get him on board!!) in 2012!
What are everyone else's savings targets for this year? I think I'd like to between us save 6000 this year and have a holiday! I might revise this though when I weigh up how this will break down..! £500/month between 2 of us should be possible though no?
  • Try http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-1633404/Household-budget-calculator.html this will help you work out your monthly expenses and give you an idea of what your cash flow is like.
  • Not sure if you use apps much, but I used a 'home budget calculator' app which really helped me cut down spending and save for my first flat. I also tried to buy everything on ebay first before going to the shops - saved me a fortune! :)
