Could go the other way - getting a cash back credit card can earn you a few ££££s a year if used correctly.

Hi All!!! :) I'm joining in if that's okay

Me and the OH have just had our first baby boy (not planned and 8 weeks prem - only found out I was pregnant about 2 months before I had him) so we're living in my parents back room at the moment, rent free (for now) so that we can save for our house deposit. I'm going back to work in October, hopefully, and my Dad and the OH's Mum will be looking after LO whilst we work. OH works in care and I'm an administrator, and we're hoping to save £25k by March 2014 so that we can then start looking for a house. We're doing well at the moment with around £12k savings :) so not far off.

Hopefully this thread can give me some inspiration

Welcome to the thread Fredula :-) what supportive family you have! Congrats on the little one too!

My lovely boyf's family helped us so much when we were clearing our debts by letting us stay there for hardly any money so we could clear debts & work on our future together. Supportive family really does help, even if it's just moral support! I'll always be grateful to his parents :0)

    P.S 12K is a brilliant starting point :-)
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!

    Hi all

I have been looking around the boards for the last few weeks and would like to join in with this group.....
I am currently saving to pay off my loan (will ask for early repayment estimate when i have enough in saving), is going quite slowly at the mo because my OH is not working and we are living on my wages and having to use the credit card to pay for car repairs.

My first goal is to get back into the black (when combining the balances of my loan, credit card and savings)......will be updating with my end of Feb numbers soon - hopefully i will have made some progress but have had some car costs this month with a breakdown.....here's hoping!!!
    LBM @ 01.01.12 TOTAL DEBT = £13301.77. LH number 320
    POAMAYC in 2013 #1 : £54.53/£10159.90
    1% challenge - 7% paid off.
DFD @ 31.07.13 is April 2017 (45 months to go!)

It all depends upon the planning you have implemented in terms of your financial assessments.

The best way to invest is in the Liquidation Investment where you can withdraw money at anytime needed:beer:
  • Hi All,

Thoughts I'd introduce myself. I'm looking to save super long-term at the moment - unless things change in the economy - so, I need all the encouragement I can get.

Hopes it's OK if I post up here on a regular basis and get to know some folks along the way.

    Cheers.
