  • Starting to monitor how much I can save more closely. It looks like I can save at least £500 most months. I seem to have saved £1,600 over the last two months which is great, but I was at home / with relatives for about two weeks during Christmas which meant pretty much no expenses :)
Not too bad given my net monthly salary is just over said £1,600 - for London it's a good ratio I think! What do you reckon?

Wow zekko that's impressive!! It's good you can save money on rent etc hole you save! When do you think you'll be looking to buy?

I'm always on the look-out, keeping in touch with what the prices are doing. I'm prepared to wait at least a couple of years if need be.

just an update since October, my savings are now 17k, just saving wages and trying to save money here there and everywhere!

wow i havnt been on this thread for a year! my savings have actually done down :(....but i did pay of my 7k loan which had 6 years left paying £120 per month.

Right now, we have £14,000 saved, hubby took a big wage drop half way through the year, but it has increased again for time being so hoping to save between 300 - 500 per month. This is actually for us to be able to move house fingers crossed in around 3-4 years time i am hoping to get to around 30k minimum.

I'm back down to 5k at the moment but its slowly building back up again.

I used the other 20k to pay off some more of my mortgage last year. Only 15k left now ;)
