  • Savings Total: £22,850

My target was £24,000 by Christmas. I don't think I'll reach this now, but hopefully I'll have £23,000 so I'm happy

This months money has gone into the accounts. Now just have to enjoy Paris in a couple of weeks :-) then on to save for Christmas :-/

Also opened an account in trust for my Nephew adding £20 a month for 14 years, I'm going to try and get and interest average of 6% for the whole term (if I remember to switch)
Mortgage Balance £182,789.00 of £259,250.00 Overpayment Total £48,847.13
Monthly payment down £258.82 Overpaid last month £1096.38
    End of month 11/2017
  • Its been an eventful month this month, my contact at work was supposed to finish on 30th Sep but since has been extended twice one for 3 weeks and then for 2 weeks so its given me an extra 5 weeks wages which I was not expecting and also managed to do alot of overtime which has helped my savings alot.
On top of that got a bonus for staying to the end of the decommissioning which is £1500 which was very unexpected, so I put all that into my ISA (after the tax man took a sizeable chunck).
Managed to hit my first target for the house deposit and went over it so I have updated with a 2nd goal just hope I will be able to hit this one.
    Emergency Fund £2900/£5000 (58%)
    Credit Card Debt (0%) savings £1200/£5195 (23.1%)
    Mortgage £47,100 end date 09/2046
Goal 1 - full emergency fund - ASAP
    Goal 2 - Credit card debt savings £3000 - by Jan 15

    Goal 3 - Mortgage overpayments £4000 - by June 15
  • Hey guys i've done it! I've reached my savings target of £6500!! I thought my savings had gone backwards but they hadnt. What i thought was going to happen was my money from my new employment would go in next month because i started mid- month so i thought i would have a bumper amount come in next month. However the money i earned this month came in on friday! YAY! I have saved £7000+ atm.

I think i will most probably make another goal soon. However for the time being i will just enjoy the achieving of this goal (of course in a moneysaving way, lol)

Well another £150 got transferred this month, slowly sneaking towards £17000. Should make it by the end of the year, although I am toying with using some of my savings to pay off some of my mortgage and reduce my payments. The reductions would be much more than the interest from my savings.

Well done all of you, it is so good to hear about everyone's hard work paying off, and the nice little (and big!) surprises that have boosted your savings! :T

I have done a quick tot up. I managed to save £1,202 in October so I have £40,447 saved. WAYHEY!!!!!!!!!! I've reached £40,000!

I am sooooo chuffed. I'm hoping to reach my goal by the end of 2010 (see sig), here's hoping I do it! I have a fair bit of Christmas shopping done thanks to glitches, so hopefully the rest of the year won't be TOO expensive.

    Keep at it peeps!

i made the first steps to trying to do a spread sheet to cover both my uk and foreign incomes and outgoings--abroad i have the complications of interest free credit cards and builders and designers that give interest free credit terms on everything-- my wife uses this all to great affect as we renovate our home!!--my income in the uk is quite fixed and comes in even 12 monthly amounts but abroad its completely the opposite with seasonal earnings from college ownership and these confusing credit terms!!--i am a saver in the uk and a spender abroad--i can only so far work out my regular uk saving amount --982gbp--abroad is questionable!!--i am owed a years salary off our business-it was the first year last year but we have ample turnover to cover it now!!--savings in the bank end of october are totalled at a rough guide of 31,500gbp
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.

    Hi all,
Oh my...you all put me to shame!
I would love to have saved the amounts you guys have.
I only graduated last year though so can only walk before I run.
I have a couple of goals; 1) to save £10,000 by next Dec 2010 (although hoping this can be sooner) and 2) Reduce Student Overdraft to 0.
I am hoping to do this as I already have £1500 saved so just need £8.5k more and I am putting away £500 give or take extra couple of hundred a month so hopefully I'll achieve this.
I found that my first £1,000 saved was horrendously difficult as I've always been a paycheck to paycheck sort of lady...but once I'd banked this, I got going. I've only been saving since September so I've done well.
Any ideas on where to save? I have a Lloyds ISA which seems to return nothing!

dilemma10, you are doing great!!! It's taken me a few years to save this much, and I had practically no savings 1 year after graduation.

It's true that saving is addictive and you will find yourself not wanting to spend money lol. Keep at it and keep us up to date! :)
