That's a fab discovery your mum made Lucy. Lucky you. It reminds me that I have an old Yorkshire account which I need to chase up.
GetRealBabe - I've been counting my pennies too. £5 in 2p and £9.60 in 20p. If can find two more 20p will bank it.

Nice one Driving Soon
Can't wait until payday (not til the end of the month), once I get past April things should improve as I've car insurance due soon
Opened an Aliance & Leicester ISA @ 3.2% so not too bad. Going to start looking for another ISA to transfer my Halifax ISA from last year to. Out of interest, does anyone know what the Halifax Direct Reward ISA rates drop to after the 12 months are up, mine was fixed at 3% but can't find what it drops to.

grn, I thought you couldn't have more than one ISA going at the same time - if you transfer your other ISA to somewhere else, won't that mean you will do?

I thought that until yesterday, but apparently you can only 'subscribe' to one ISA a year i.e pay money into it. You can open another and transfer money to it as that doesn't count. I'm sure Lokolo will confirm.0

I know this isnt the ISA thread but just wanted some opinion, is it better to have one ISA with 30K earning about 1.75% or to open a new one for £5100 and leave the remainder where it is? Thanks0

It's better to open a new ISA with £5100 and TRANSFER the ISA with £30k to a higher paying accountSaving for a house deposit and associated costs:

From what I understand, it's better to get a fresh ISA which accepts new money only as this will pay a higher rate. Also get an ISA which accepts old money (providing it offers a better rate than the one the moneys currently in) and transfer your old money to that one. You'll be ok providing you only add new money to the fresh account (if you know what I mean).
You can definately get a better rate on your 30k (old money) if you move it, I think some are offering 2.7%, and you'll get more if you don't need to withdraw any and use one with a fixed term.0
