Oh dear, calculated I must save £3500 a month to reach my target by the end of the year. I know I've over-estimated what I'll need but I don't think by much. Boohoo. Would anyone like to post their ironing for me to do? Very resonable, £30 an item! :D
  • i finally got all my money saved for paris at the end of march, so now its full steam ahead with the house deposit, though i'm trying to get my car insurance money built up before i have to renew it(September) and also a bit of xmas money put away if i can, so that i can put money towards the house everymonth, rather than having to take a few months off for christmas spending. I was orignally going to save £500 per month, but I'm upping that to £800 now, so some bigger sacrifices will definitely have to be made!

Well in terms of saving I have done well this month: £100 into my emergency savings and £368 into my ISA but I can't put it in yet because I'm a complete MUPPET! I sent a letter to my payroll office asking them to pay this months salary into my new account and gave them the wrong acc number!!! What an idiot!!!!! So now I have to live off my savings while I wait 4 working days for it to be sent back then another 4 working days to be sent to the correct account (hopefully). I am still very annoyed at myself. On top of that I spent about £4 on the phone to the very helpful (no sarcasm) people at A&L and I missed opening their 3.5% ISA :mad::mad:

I feel better now I have vented that to a new set of people, my family were getting bored I think:o. But my OH pointed out that at least I have savings to tide me over, if that happened to him he would not have a penny.

Anyway well done everyone else and welcome to the newcomers! I too will be watching and waiting for a new ISA with a decent rate otherwise I might as well stick to first direct at 3%

Well done eternalsunshine for reaching your Paris target.

Hope your accounts get sorted out soon ljaneyr.

Savings are on target here although have spent a bit on clothes - two cardigans, jumper and a kafkan for holiday. Not as much as I could have as updating work wardrobe by buying different belts for dresses etc so looks like a different outfit. Mmm I think I may have been watching too much Gok!

Going to empty out piggy banks today so can see how much I can bank there.

My next targets to save are my home phone/internet provider, although I will possibly be moving in 6/12 months so may just bite the bullet. Debating whether to cash in premium bonds and take some real interest as theyre not giving me many winnings lately.
My year regular saver of £250 a month at HSBC finishes this month, so from May gonna start another plan and try to do £300 this time.

The remaining £67 is going into the ISA soon so the £5k target will be in the emergency fund soon! The other £5k is in a bond but I've been told I can take 5% each year without penalties so seeing as the interest is beyond rubbish for that, £250 is going out of there in a couple of days and going into the emergency fund too so I should be looking at having £5,250 in there by the end of the week.
