I have a monthly budget to live by, I never keep to it but it gives me a good idea of how my money is going to flow.

Topped up ISA yday so thats now full, now its going to transfer to halifax - wonder how long that'll take!

wow very bad grammar and spelling in that email from them!

Hehe, the reply to my email asking for a refund (funny how they ignore my emails for 6 weeks, then manage two replies on two consecutive days), was a simple "OK no prob". Loving the professionalism!

In other displays of amazing professionalism, I received a letter confirming my new current account details (I work next to Barclays and 10 minutes walk from HSBC, so I opened a Barclays current account, so I can bank my expenses cheque each month without the long walk, and then transfer it over online. How lazy is that?!). Stapled to my letter, was an almost identical letter to a couple confirming their new current account details and their online banking set up - I have their full address, incl. post code, sort code, account number, and online banking ID!!! Doesn't fill me with confidence about my new bank! And now I'm going to have to take the time to go into Barclays to give them back this information.

I allow myself an "unplanned spend" allowance of around £35 a week. Everything is budgeted for strictly, but I'm not too harsh on myself if I overspend by up to £35... I rarely hit that though. Unless I go clothes shopping :o

My gfs birthday today and agreed to go shopping with her when she comes up here (as I am a tiny train journey to Birm city centre), can't believe I agreed. Luckily that won't be until next month so I can plan for that!

Also next year placement, I have found an amazing house which I really like the look of - however I need to find 2 other people to get the house with (got 1 other person). Hopefully I can find 2 other people soon!! :)

Hey guys I have read this whole thread!

    Can I join!? :)

Im looking to save £10,500k by Dec!

Yay another 10k'er! Seems be quite a few of us, it's a nice number to aim for and one that isn't unattainable. I've been using Martin's ISA calculator and if I keep up what I'm currently saving (£300 / month) I'll have £5400 by the end of this year. So still a fair way to go! However, if I up this to £400 / month I'll have £6400 by the end of the year. Can I do it? Well I've managed to save £300 this month with money left over (to pay for new brake pads for the car and shoes for the horses this month). So technically £400 shouldn't be a problem providing I'm not due any large expenses.

Excuse my ramblings - payday t-minus 16 days and counting...

Woop! Just cashed in another £150 from Paypal from selling stuff on eBay so by the time I get paid at the end of the month I should hit £20,000 saved up. For me that is one heck of an achievement and I'm still on target to hit £30K by the end of the year.

    Stay focused people!

  • Just popped down the Post Office with another £400 cash for some more Premium Bonds.
I will start withdrawing some money next week from my Nationwide Cash ISA, now its paying just 1% - I would rather take a chance of winning a prize on the Premium Bonds than the £4 interest £400 is now earning over 12 months in the Nationwide.
