  • heyy! i opened a new savings account today- 5% halifax fixed for a year, not bad at the mo! going to have to drip-feed my savings in tho.. although i've looked and my regular student account gets 2% interest (which is better than some saving accounts at the mo!) so it'll still earn some interest while in there!hehe i got a chippy tea this evening(normaly i make all my own food to save money) but i paid for it entirely in 5p's - which i robbed from my housemates bedroom floor!!hehehe..
    total savings(1/02/09)-£3655
    age-19
    occupation - math student/shop worker

Found out my bonus amount at work today, so it will be just over £3K, half of which I get in shares, so a nice little top up to our currently decreasing pot of money... having a conservatory built at the mo.
  • It looks like I am going to be getting a newer car some time early this year, so that will hurt. But its got to be done unfortunately and I want something decent that I can have some faith in. Not knowing if you are even going to be able to unlock your car door before work is a bit of a daily worry!

Lame. Well Val Day today, I was going to take my gf out to lunch as she never seems to appreciate presents (so I didn't get one) but she says she can't cause she has too much college work - so pretty much wasted a 240 mile round trip coming to see her  guess I saved money not taken her out to lunch though!

Just spending very little and saving everything I can. I get good overtime @ work so that all helps. My basic wage isnt that amazing. The more you have the less you want to spend. This new car is going to break my heart!

Valentine's has been a No Spend Day for me! Wooo! :D

Looking forward to my bursary payment sometime this month, should be able to bump the savings up to around £6k.

Oooh and after today I only have two more rent payments to make this academic year! So I can really bump up my savings in April, as I have £2k coming in from my loan & grant and no rent to pay out of that.

Great advice. I'm 22 and now have £19K in the bank. Not as impressive as you but not to shabby all the same. Also living frugally is not to bad to be honest, I still have all the food and clothes, etc I need and can still treat myself:T
