I'd write to them in a serious and polite but not threatening way. Just be as specific as possible on what you bought, when, order numbers, other times you've contacted them and it should be sorted I'd have thought.

I'm not really sure who the relevent authorities you would need to contact are, trading standards?

Yeah, but I doubt anyone will do anything for such a small amount! I feel like I've been ignored, and I'm going to keep sending them letters til they pay me back, but they'll probably ignore them too. And I'll add on the cost of the stamps and envelopes in each letter, to what they owe me. So frustrating!

The most frustrating thing is that I had to put in my mobile number, so they could call me if there was a problem with the order. If they had've, I could have told them to send the other colour, which wasn't out of stock (as I just went back to them and ordered the other colour, assuming they'd refund me, so I'm actually out of pocket for not just the goods, but the second delivery charge of £4!)

This thread seems to have gone somewhat off track, leading to flagrant advertising by a commercial concern, enough please
  • I need some advice.

A company owes me £20, which I would like to get back. (Bought present for my dad online back in December, but it wasn't delivered - they sent me a note saying "out of stock, refund will be sent"). I gave them 3 weeks before I started chasing, as I assumed the slow refund was due to Christmas/New Year etc. I sent an email to remind them that I needed a refund on 8th January, and a follow up 10 days later when I'd still not heard from them. I have had no response. I haven't been able to phone them, as they're only open office hours, and I have been working outside of my office recently so it is not appropriate to make a personal phone call in my lunch hour (lol, as if). I know it's only £20... but I really want it back!

What would you do? I will write, but I'm not prepared to take them to court as it wouldn't be worth it for £20, so any threat I make will look pretty hollow. :(

EDIT: I know this is way off topic... but I can make it on topic by telling everyone that the refund will be put straight into my savings!

I would write to them again, and just say that you are very unhappy with the service you've received and their lack of response. You're right, that threatening court action will look pretty hollow, but you could threaten to find/start a review site based on your experiences, and also write into your local metro and local newspaper under the public interest sections, and make them aware that you'll voice your disatisfaction as publicly as possible if you don't get some sort of resolution from them, and quickly!

I had problems with a site recently, and was getting no response at all, as soon as I sent them an e-mail, pretty much saying the above (although more eloquently worded!), I got a phonecall from a manager right away, and had the money within 3 days.

    Good luck

    xx

doesnt the small claims court deal with exactly this sort of thing? its not a threat, just get the details, inform them of a pending small claims summons and see how quickly they will pay up to make it all go away. they would have to pay costs too
