Happy New Year everyone!!! Did you spend the evening as you'd like to? We went to my neighbours and had a few drinks and then fireworks in their field. We woke the children up to see the fireworks and then came home with them afterwards, so I was tucked up in bed with my makeup chiselled off by 12.30!!!

This morning I didn't wake properly until 8.30 - bliss. OH is still snoring. Am off to my other neighbours this evening for tea (but not until about 8pm) so have to survive the day with the children - AGH!!!! Seemingly very wet outside, so will take the cars to the car wash and get them cleaned. Not particularly superstitious but need all the luck I can get this year so wasn't going to wash - then realised when the machine started spinning that I'd automatically put the washing in! Oh well, hope one of you gets my luck.

Sat and watched the DIY SOS that people have been talking about - bought a lump to my throat! Hope Mike has enjoyed his new home this Christmas xx

OS wise today - lunch will be jacket pots with cheese and coleslaw, my local Tescos was selling off some of their really nice bread yesterday morning for 15p a loaf - so I stocked the freezer. Also selling their finest coleslaw for 35p, so had some of that too. Oh blimey - OH just woken up - looks like the walking dead!

Lots of love, hugs and best wishes for an OS 2011.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Thanks Bitsy, diet coke one side and bicardi the other, not sure what state the knitting would be in.

Forgot to say age must be getting to my DS & GF, they said they were fed up with forking out for what usually turned out to be a duff night on NYE, so were going down to friends spending the evening with them, and then they are all off to Cheltenham Races today, so hope the rain holds off down there.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Morning all

I must say it is quite nice not to be hungover on New Year's Day! Hope you all had a fantastic night, whatever you did.

Well another year is here, my aims for this year are:

    - lose weight
    - exercise 3 times per week
    - find a hobby/interest to occupy an evening or two (but haven't decided what yet!)
    - not use the tv as background noise
    - cut down on buying stuff in plastic containers where possible (though I think this will be hard with things like sour cream :rotfl:)

Watched the NY in on the TV, the London fireworks were great, but wondering who paid for them:eek::eek:

DG - I thought the same! They looked so expensive, and went on for ages. Impressive though!

    N9eav - hope work isn't too bad!

Today I plan on decluttering a bit, and to go for a walk if the weather stays dry.

I know yesterday we said it was bad luck to put WM on today, is it the same with the DW?!

    Have a fab day all

Good Morning and Happy New Year Ladies.
I am a long term Lurker and I sometimes post but this year we really need to get the budget in hand and sort our finances out. So what better way to help me stay focused then to post on here. I plan to fill my time home baking, knitting, sorting the house out and studying instead of shopping. I can do it and I will do it.
I started my new year with a freezer inventory and there is loads in there, I just need to meal plan and then shop for the perishables only.
So here is to my new year and new journey.

DS was in bed at 10pm fast asleep...didnt make it to 12;). DH and I went to bed at 11  ;)
Taking tree down today:T:T:Tand getting back to normal.
Having DHs HM pizza tonight hopefully if he feels ok....in bed with migraine at the mo.
DS thrilled as Primeval back on tonight...he loves it.
This year am hoping to get as much of our debt paid off as poss. Need to rein in the spending as due to being busy with the wedding etc have fallen off the wagon a bit.
Back to HM cakes and biscuits and more time to organise our OS ways.
Am pleased tho that we paid for the wedding with money we saved and didnt get any more debt but debt has not really moved much as the money we would usually use to overpay things had to be saved for wedding. Hopefully will be on top of DHs tax by middle of the year.
I am also reading up on keeping chickens as have wanted 2 or 3 for ages.
I am starting to worry about what you do with them when they dont lay anymore....was reading that some use their entire eggs by 2 or 3 years. Do not think I could then eat the bird:cool:
Well off to start getting tree down with DSs help:cool:
    Have great days all
    xx

    Happy New Year Everyone

We spent the evening with neighbours but home and in bed by 1, hence I'm the only one up, I have no NY resolutions, will just carry on as normal.
Quiet day planned for today, chicken dinner from whoopsie chicken in Asda the other day and whoopsie Xmas stuffing and I must get back into Ebay - December was so quiet I just did relists which a lot of them sold so am waiting for all the sales to wind down so I can get the bargains to sell on (I am a reg business seller), this goes to pay for my Florida hol in Oct - yipee I can finally say I'm going to Florida this year!!!!!!!! Plus its OH's big 40 birthday, not until October but need to get planning - I love making lists :)

Hope everyone has a gret day
