OS Daily 1st January 2011

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 1st January 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Happy New Year_party_

Morning everyone. I have to work, so an early start for me. No doubt there are dozens of foolish people to deal with this morning.
Hopefully will be done in time to have a nice roast beef meal tonight.

    Morning all
Hubby's still in the land of nod, but not me so I'm sat here with a cuppa.
I shall start the DW & WM once I've had breakfast &I shall pack the tree away later, it's been stripped but needs boxing up to go back on top of the wardrobe for another year. I'm not superstitious so will be doing washing & cleaning today.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Happy New Year!

I was up until midnight and then back up at 6. Didn't sleep much inbetween - I really should avoid caffine drinks I just had stuff I wanted to get done and being poorly was stopping me.

Don't feel so bad today so I have a plan of things I want to do. By the time I go back to work on Tuesday I want to be totally organised.

    Today I intend to:

    Tidy up
find a home for my craft stuff
put the Christmas stuff back in the loft
    dust and hoover every where
    change my bedding
    sort my magazine collection
find somewhere for my new books to live
make some sort of folder for monthly plans and weekly plans
    organise my time
    sort my beauty products
break my resolutions for the year into manageable bits and set time limits and a way of checking progress
figure out a plan to fit all the things I want to do into my life.

Good Morning All and Happy New Year :j:beer:

I too was fast asleep by 12 and the fireworks didn't wake me:)

I watched Grumpy Old New Year - I so could have been on that programme :rotfl:

Have woken to a new year with a blocked toilet  OH will try and seek a metal coathanger this morning, if not am covered with British Gas & they will come out Tuesday.

Have got 2 hours work this morning then off to celebrate the new year with a trip to Covent Garden then Chinatown for lunch - can't wait.

Best wishes for you all and have a great day.x

    Happy new year everyone.:)
DH and I had a glass of wine each and comforted the garden tiger , who while she is not terrified of fireworks anymore, generally gives off the impression that they are a bl---y nuisance and interrupt her beauty sleep. Hence her need to climb on her staff and demand attention. :D

DH is still asleep upstairs, which gives me a breathing space before the serious business of decluttering continues later. I'm aiming to lose my current bodyweight in unwanted books, clothes and general junk, as well as eleven pounds of yarn, etc. I've got a bag full of things to send off to people via the Ravelry UKRAK group, and am waiting on addresses for them, so they can go into the post when we get back to normal next week.

I also need to get my head around SW again - I'm changing groups as my current one is too late in the evening - I'd rather go to one which is on the route to my knitting group instead. Must email the group leaders to explain why- it's only manners. I'd like to be 10lb lighter by the end of the is month, which is feasible if I get my organising head on straight.

Have a good day everyone - hugs and thoughts to those who need them.

Morning Everyone - Happy New Year, hope it is a good one for all of you.

dreamyd -Yarn - I think Hardup-Hester would happily take that off your hands. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have not made any resolutions, apart from food not sure what else I could give up. Will definitely try on the weight loss front, again, but I do that most of the time anyway. Need to look good for my 60th in August now don't I. Didn't manage a drink either last night as I was kniting and the two do not mix.;)

Watched the NY in on the TV, the London fireworks were great, but wondering who paid for them:eek::eek:

Had a NY message from DS at midnight, he managed to leave his head shaver here, so will probably have to post that off to him tomorrow. Wouldn't mind but had bought one to keep here so he didn't need to bring his from home.

The intension is to take the tree and the rest of the cards down today. I received some in the first post after Xmas which had been franked on the 15th, and not from snowy areas either.

DH is very pleased with his DS lite I got him for Xmas, though never moans if he sees me on it:D:D

OS wise still using up the fridge, may make a beef pie today.

Good morning and happy new year to one and all :D

Went to bed around 11.30 and then was promptly awake at midnight as the fireworks started. DS woke at 4.30am, think he was cold (well he will be if he insists on NOT sleeping in any pj's) so we were playing bed hopping, cat was having a mad half hour (which appears to still be going on!) so all in all not a great night's sleep :(
My BIL is up in Brum and is supposed to be calling round at some point today. Other than that not much else going on as it's such a dull and dirty day.

Now I don't "do" NY resolutions but I do have a list of goals for 2011. In no particular order they are:
Fit in more exercise, especially yoga so help my knackered back :o
    Be slimmer
    Declutter the loft and garage
Tidy up the house with some new accessories as it's looking VERY tired these days
Use the 15 mins method more often, especially when I am in a serious case of CBA's
Get stuck into making my handmade crafts and cards and see how selling them turns out
I will not spend all my "me" time on the computer :o As much as I love it on here it does ultimately make me more unproductive and I end up rushing to do things :o:o
Look after myself more, I am not much of a one for beauty regimes but given that I shall be the wrong side of 35 this year i think I need to start looking after myself :o Oil Cleansing method here I come :T
Start using a flask for my hot drinks. The number of times I boil the kettle and then get distracted from making a drink is shocking. All that wasted electricity :o

Think that's more than enough to be getting on with :rotfl:

Will finally be putting down the tree today, didn't do it the other day as back was aching to much. Need to get back to normality now although I find it rather depressing after all the pretty lights :o

Anyway I think I've waffled enough for now and not much OS to speak of :o

N9eav - Hope work is quiet for you although I am sure the cells are heaving with people sleeping it off ;)

Hugs, spoons and high fives all round.

PS. started catching up with Edwardian Farm on Iplayer as I managed to completely miss it. Have come to the conclusion that I have been most definately been born too late ;) :rotfl:
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks
