    9 Days Till Payday...

    PAD/Spends - £64
    Entertainment - £17.84
    Groceries - £32.16
    ISA - £910.51
    VSP - £250.17
Savings for car insurance - £144.61

The Cheque of Destiny clears on the 16th, so I can add £160 into the car insurance pot then and pay off Mr F's debts. Once that's done I'll be paying into an account for the car every month to stop this last minute panic next year :D

I need to update my spreadsheet tonight to see where I am with the monthly budget. I've been pretty good apart from the Chinese on Friday so I'm not too concerned. I've not had anything through from the council yet about council tax, and that should start on April 1st, so that's a concern. Of course, this is the same council that still hasn't replaced my stolen wheelie bin since the beginnning of January, despite my four phonecalls. Bah.

Dinner tonight is going to be something with pork as there's loads leftover. I need a quick look on the OS board as I don't want to have to go to the shops again just to buy some sauce :D

    Evening all :)

I've been feeling quite sorry for myself today - I've not been feeling great since yesterday afternoon so took the day off work ill today :( I have mainly pottered about making cards and watching bad telly, but still feel quite poo. I'm not too sure what's up, just a general feeling of "blah" but I don't feel right if that makes sense.

I'll see how things lie in the morning before I decide to take more time off. I'd rather work than not but there's no point if I'm going to be miserable and distracted.

If anyone wants a look at the new cards I did today, they're in the usual place ;)

We're halfway through the month and the budgeteering is looking pretty good. According to the budget, I can spend up to £2500 by the end of this month (everything apart from mortgage - some treats, like the SECC trip, I pay for with my own savings) and I have spent £1644.63 which is amazing :j I'm way under budget on clothes and a profitable February has meant that I've now made up for buying a new iPod in the first fortnight of 2011 :o

I'm feeling quite hopeful about my finances at the moment. I tried this challenge last year and gave up early on because I felt like every time I spent money I was failing in some way, but I think I'm realising that it's not how much I'm spending, it's that I'm making a choice to spend wisely. For example, I used to read Marie Claire (pre-LBM) and was spending over £3 on a magazine that was telling me I could only be happy if I bought designer clothes or wore the best makeup. Now the only magazines I buy are crafting ones, and only then if they have a kickass free gift. I think my priorities have changed to be honest. :T

To bed - need more sleep again :D

Enjoy what's left of your night ladies (and any lurking gents ;))
  • Hope you feel better this morning, I've felt like that for the last 2 weeks, some days I've slept in the afternoon.

Its funny but a number of years back if money was getting in a mess I always focused on something that was about £10 that I had spent that I shouldn't have. Daft really as that wasn't making much difference to an already blown budget, it was the whole picture that I had needed to see. I now only buy a mag if it has a freebie I really want - like I;ve just bought Glamour for the clinique freebie - glad I did as it doesnt quench my skin at all - £2 spent on the mag is better than ££££££ wasted on the full product!
One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

Now, to start holiday planning once my head stops thumping...
