Fresian's Free Of Debt (Woo!) Now, to stay that way...!

Options
Hello ;)

I'm flying_fresian and I'm a long-time member of the DFW community. I was lucky enough to be able to pay off the £9,112.63 () that I initially owed two years ago and became debt free on 2nd December 2010, mere days before my 30th birthday!

If you want to read about my previous attempts to get debt-free, links are below:

A little about me for those who haven't seen me around the forums. I'm 30 and live in the lovely city of Edinburgh with Mr Fresian, my boyfriend of ten years, and our two lovely cats.

I've been living the DFW lifestyle for a couple of years with a few hiccups (shoe or makeup related as a rule...) but also crucially being able to maintain a reasonable standard of living for myself. I am not someone who would be able to cut out all fun from my life while trying to repay my debts, so I have paid off the money while buying my laptop, having a cheap holiday or two with Mr Fresian and celebrating my 30th in London with my best friend. *top tip* If you don't treat yourself occasionally you'll go mad!

Long-time supporters/stalkers might remember that I tried to live on £8000 last year with b*gger all success. This year I'm going for £10,000.

If you're unfamiliar with the Spreadsheet of Doom, the column on the left tells you what the expense is, the next column what my annual budget will be, this is then followed by what I have spent so far and how much I have left for the year.

Some of these figures are generous (power costs, mobile costs) but I would rather leave some wiggle room in my budget for once!

I've increased my budget by £10 per month for food this year as there is a VAT rise to consider and all the cat-costs are VATable. Bah.

I'm very excited about the following budgets:

    Haircuts (WOOO!)
    Clothes - £500 for the year is a MEGA-WOO for me :D:D
Crafting - I make my own cards which in theory is moneysaving but the supplies are really pretty and cost money. Having a budget for this is great as it's a low-cost hobby generally and gives me things to do when the weather is rubbish!! I would like to make more cards this year and hopefully sell some at local craft fairs. Something to find out about methinks.

I have a healthy budget for "Anything Else" AKA the "P*ss it up the wall money" ;) This is to stop me feeling like All Budgeting Hope Is Lost when I buy a coffee on a cold morning or a pair of shoes because mine leak.

All comments welcome as ever. Happy New Year to all
