There's a challenge on the comping board called Eleventh Heaven

The permise seems to be that you pick 11 things that you want to win in 2011 and then post on the thread to say how you're doing against your plans. Its like putting the idea out to the universe and then seeing how the universe feels about it. I've aimed big with my list:

    1. New telly (Mine is old and rubbish!)
    2. Car - may as well be ambitious! My car is 15 years old and cost £30 so something sexier would be ace :D
    3. Tickets to Glee Live
    4. Holiday abroad
    5. Weekend break
    6. Crafting wins
    7. Posh makeup!
    8. iPod touch
    9. High street (or similar) vouchers to help me pay for Christmas
    10. Cold. Hard. CASH!
    11. Kindle

I'm posting this so that it's on my front page and I can find it easily and so that I can refer back to it at the end of the year.

    Happy New Year tomtom!

Recipe for scones please - "TomTom Chilli" is still a firm favourite in Fresian Towers :D

thank you! :D glad the chilli is still serving you well...

    easy peasy plain scones:

    225g self raising flour
40g butter or marg at room temp
    1 1/2 tablespoons caster sugar
    pinch of salt
    150ml milk
a little extra flour for dusting/rolling out

preheat the oven to gas mark 7, 220c (i have a fan oven so do it about 200ish).

you will need a greased baking sheet (i use baking paper as less mess)

sift the flour into a bowl and rub the butter into it using fingertips (or if you suffer from hot hands like me, a fork or pastry blender). add the sugar and salt and then, using a knife or fork, mix in the milk a bit at a time. add a drop more milk if your mix feels at all dry.

roll out the dough to a thickness of about 2cm (i have to measure it! looks really high! needs to be thick for proper rising...) and using a round pastry cutter (about 5-7 cm diameter is about right) cut out the scones. then knead dough remnants together, roll out again etc until all used up. should make about 9 - 12, depending on the size of your cutter.

put on baking tray, lightly dust with flour if you like (i don't usually bother as usually have quite a bit on already from rolling out stage) and bake for about 12-15 min. they should look a pale golden cooked colour when done.

cool on wire rack, best eaten slightly warm. with clotted cream and jam if feeling naughty! these freeze well if you manage to have extras (or do a double batch).

have fun! let us know how they turn out when you do them. xxx

Sorry folks, I'm sleepy, so here follows a shameless copy and paste from the Frugal Living thread :o

Today has been a little bit spendy and a little bit frugal....

    Spendy

Lunch with a friend - frugal though as we went to the cafe in Morrisons so my lunch (including a cuppa) was only £2.84 :D
Earrings for me - £2.40 but had 70% off in the Accessorize sale
A new computer game for me - £3.49, again on sale
Groceries budget has been pummelled, but I'm putting this in the frugal category really!

    Frugal

Mentioned on Facebook that I was thinking about getting a breadmaker and a friend is lending me hers so I can see if I will use/like it!
Did four hours at work today but as it's a bank holiday it's double time :j
Stocked up on essentials in Morrisons and Costco. I now have lots of mince/catfood/tinned tomatoes/beans/pulses so the storecupboard is looking healthier.
Spent crafting budget for the month on Ebay but saved a fortune. I got four sets of dies for my Cuttlebug for £16 in total instead of £12 each. Bargain!!

I've now spent £84 on groceries since the 1st of the month (eek....!) but this will last a long time. I do still need to get some fresh fruit and veg throughout the month, but we've now got a lot of bargains in the cupboard. I was especially pleased to get 10 cans of posh tuna from Costco for £5.19 as Mr Fresian loves it and I can't stand the stuff so object to the price of it normally!!

I'm also back using Bingoport again for free bingo which can eventually be redeemed for Amazon vouchers. I'm nearly at the level for a £5 voucher and have only been using the site for a week. If anyone is interested in it there's a thread about it on the boards and I can send you a referral link, just PM me. I'm going to be adding any money that I make from Ebay/overtime/Quidco into my spreadsheet and this will be used for extra treats. Hopefully that will be a motivation to make some more cash!!

Hope everyone else has had a good day.

Just put in a redemption request for Bingoport for my first £5 Amazon voucher. I'm going to save them up so I can either buy presents for people or (more likely) buy myself crafty things without guilt :D

    Morning folks :D

Just a quick post before I run to work:

    Money

    Purse - £10
    PAd/Spends - £86
    Entertainment - £50
    Groceries - £44.26
    VSP Savings - £73.11
    ISA Savings - £354.79

    17 days until payday :eek::eek::eek:

I took £20 cash out yesterday to last me the week and am down to £10 already :rotfl: Partly because any change under £1 goes into my Sealed Pot then I got a £2 coin in change and that has to go to the terramundi!

I got £44ish refunded onto my credit card yesterday as I returned some stuff to M&S. Today I'm off to Next to get more refunded, tomorrow Monsoon :D

Hope everyone has a good day - I'm running to make some chilli before I go into work for some overtime.

Didn't have time to sort out clothes for refund. Will sort tomorrow.

Did have time to make chilli though and tidy up after myself so I'm not doing too bad!
