8 months! Has anyone been to see Phantom Of The Opera? Not seen any reviews either way on here of other sites.

Im a huge phantom fan and have seen it numerous times in london and tour, In vegas last year we had free tickets with our rooms at palazzo so went with my family and gf (who hadnt seen it)
I had read mixed reivews and being such a phantom geek
It was amazing, without a doubt the best version of it I had seen, it benefiting from being trimmed down as kept it flowling better and also felt so much more submersive in the specially designed theatre.

We all loved it and out of all the shows we saw we decided it was the best (despite how much we had paid for the others- the free show came up trumps!)

Hubby really enjoyed Phantom at the Venetian. He thought the set was amazing. Me however did my usual Vegas stunt and slept through most of it............

My husband wants to do something "cultural" on our trip - has anyone been to the Atomic Testing Museum?

Yes. It is a good place to spend an hour or two. The tour takes you through the atomic testing in Nevada, and a bit of Nuclear warfare in general. We both enjoyed it. It was a blast from the past for my SO, since he was alive when it was all going on.

I'll look out a few more "cultural" things we've done and post them too. There are some very good museum exhibits in Las Vegas.

Also saw Phantom and despite falling asleep a few times (tip....dont go first or second day there), thought it was excellent. The set especially is superb......all the executive boxes down the side (those that have seen it will know what I mean).

Looking for a bit of advice, I've been student and then unemployed for a pretty long time so haven't had much experience booking holidays!

I'm looking to go to Vegas either 5th sept or 12th sept for 7 days. Currently I'm thinking Virgin direct flight with a stay at the MGM. My package qoute all in is just shy of £1100, flight and hotel seperately is coming up similar (probably due to hotel deals for September not being available yet). I plan to book this in late April and by that point will probably know which of the two dates I'm using and will have no flexibility (meeting up with a group who are booking earlier so need to tie in with whichever date we decide)

Here's my question, am I better off booking the holiday at the end of April (I'll look around for deals including flight and hotel seperate) or would I be best to wait in the hope that prices fall (bearing in mind I'm not flexible on dates)?

Secondary question, labor day seems to fall on the 5th of September this year, is that likely to affect prices?

I'm sorry if this question has been covered already but I haven't had a chance to read the whole thread (got 20 pages into it before I realised I was reading last years!) any help would be much appreciated.

Labor day is like a bank holiday so yes it is likely to affect hotel prices....in a not so good way.

Do you mean 7 days or 8 ? As 7 would be flying Monday leaving Vegas Sunday. Hotel prices double on Fridays and Saturdays so if you do mean 7 then going Sunday to Saturday would save you something (may -or may not balance out if Sunday flight is dearer than Monday).

Any particular reason for MGM ?

Last year's thread has lots of good stuff-keep reading :)

    Hey all,

Found good prices for Vdara and Aria for our dates. Just wandered if anyone has any personal experinces/opinions on these two hotels and apart from one having a casino, whether there is that much difference?

I'm sure I can manage to get most of the 2010 thread completed by the time I come to book, can never have too much information.

I meant seven days so would be returning the Sunday, my maths is not what it used to be it seems. Based on your advice about the Labor day holiday I think I'll keep an eye on the week later as a better option.

My reasons for choosing the MGM are a bit odd really, had a discussion with a friend when I first started thinking about going to Vegas and he said that he always associated Vegas with Caesar's. I had a think and realised that I probably associated it with the MGM Grand so, given that it's my first visit, I figured it would be a nice idea to stay there. Obviously I've researched since then and haven't seen anything that might turn me against staying at the MGM (aside from the colossal size) so still planning on it at the mo.

(ed) Any opinion on whether I should put off booking until later in the hope of a better deal, and whether that might limit my chances of getting the date I want?

its not odd at all. the first time i went i stayed in bellargio mgm and mirage based entirely after watching oceans 11 !!

certainly stay in mgm full of history, however i would also consider pyramid room at luxor for the novelty value if thats what you are after, or if you want some vegas history consider the mirage (the big mega resort that changed the strip around)
