Just remember that BA now run a 744 to Vegas, used to be a 777 which was pretty comfy in the back, much more so than the VS planes. And I prefer to get there later in the evening, get to hotel about 8pm, shower, out and ready for the night. Not having to stay awake form the time you land at 1-2pm until bed time (I remember you ferf trying desperately to keep your eyes open at 8pm). I wouldn't worry about the seat allocation thing, you can book exit row seats with BA from 14 days out, and they are £25 cheaper than with VS. Also not many people bother paying for the privilege of pre-allocating seats when we flew cattle with them, at 24 hours there was almost the whole Y section to choose from.
So my vote goes to BA.

Haha - you're right, I was dead on my feet.

I feel I should requalify my comments having realised that we haven't flown Virgin in economy for a few years now...have jumped ship for AA mostly...but flew PE on Virgin this year...we kind of feel we can't deal with Virgin economy anymore...not unless we can be sure to get a pair at the back at least.

But if we had to choose, I still think the earlier arrival would suit us better - otherwise I would feel like we lost that entire day I think?

    Hi

Itching to get back to Vegas since last trip in May. Looking at the Superbowl/UFC weekend :beer:in Feb next year. Flights are only 460ish EURO! going for 6 nights.

Would be going with a mate rather than GF so looking for hotel rooms with 2 beds. 4 or 5 star. (Stayed in Signature x2 and Venetian previously)

    Thanks in advance

gamboller - where are you seeing that price? We're toying with a Feb trip so would be interested to check. As for where to stay - if you're interested in the higher-end properties it does seem like a lot of people have good luck with lowcostusa. Oh, and most hotels offer rooms with 2 queen beds...it's not guaranteed though, it will normally be a request...from what I understand they have more 2-queen rooms than 1-king rooms so your chances are good you will get your request, but not guaranteed generally.

    hi everyone :-)
    thanks for all you replies.
we will probably spend 1 night in london before we travel, then i suppose it would be a good idea to book the same hotel for the 10 nights paid for my FIL then book 1 or 2 nights in a luxury room/suite or whatever takes our fancy i suppose!!
oh exciting times! just need to convince OH to do the GC helicopter trip.....wish me luck lol!!!
i know i should research it myself, but what temp should we expect for early Aug? And will all pools be way over crowded?
any hotels recommended by the pool quality/availability? we aren't sun worshippers but will prob spend one or 2 mornings by the pool :-)

Temps early Aug will be HOT HOT HOT around 110*+ or 43*+ in UK money and yes the pools will be crowded.

Search for vegas pools and you will find reviews of most

Another vote for BA here having been with them twice. Like stoneman, we prefer to get there early evening which means we can manage to stay awake to have something to eat, a quick gamble and bed at a decent time like 11pm.

With earlier arrivals, we struggled to stay up much later than 7-8pm then woke about 1am and couldn't get back to sleep.

Food on BA was OK going out, but rank coming home the first time. Bad enough to be inedible. Last time it was OK though.

Agree with trying lowcostusa.com for high end hotels like the Cosmo. We got a studio for £79 with free breakfast with them. However at the same time I was booking it was a similar price on BA.com so worth checking there too.

I don't think any travel agent with book a proper package to Vegas. By proper I mean one covered by the Package Travel Regulations.

No problems here either booking everything myself. In fact the one time I booked flights with Netflights rather than United direct, I had big problems when the flight times were changed and the alternative they put us on wasn't suitable. The reason I booked with NF was that the flights were £170pp cheaper than booking direct.

I called United and they would have changed to what I wanted no problem if I had booked direct, but couldn't as it was booked with a third party.

No-one knows what kind of offers on rooms there will be by the time you go, but pretty much guarateed to be cheaper than the prices you are seeing by booking this early.

Got back from our trip last Fri and only just starting to get back into the swing of things!!!! As usual we had an amazing trip this time we went with our friends and whilst we were out there we had a wedding an engagement a wedding anniversary and a birthday so that kept us busy! The wedding was brilliant it was at the Chaple of Flowers followed by a reception at Maggionos would defo recommend both, our friends were over the moon with it. Did the usual faves from here eg Maggianos, MAG, Grand Lux, Cheesecake, PFChangs etc along with one of our faves Gallaghers in NYNY. Other than the service being rubbish in PFChangs all were great and that certainly wouldn’t stop us going again.

We flew with Virgin from Manchester, we were surprised when we got there in 9.30hrs compared to the 10.30plus ish it has always taken us from Gatwick the flight was pretty uneventful think that last alcoholic drink one of the gang had was maybe about two or three hours from the end of the flight so the booze lasted sometime, tbh it could have lasted longer than that but were weren’t that fussed about it. The Signature was fab as usual but I must say seen as it has been a subject of conversation recently I sported a massive bruise on my leg for the holiday after I bashed my leg getting out of the bath… not good... it’s a good job that tubs worth it! L

Had some luck on the slots this time hubby won roughly $1000 over the 11 days on Wheel of Fortune and I won $250 on Wheel of Fortune and $170 on Kitty Glitter so we were defo up this time as we don’t gamble much (well so the hubby tells me anyway haha!)

Shopped till we dropped did both outlets, the FSMall numerous times and all the hotels shops came back with 5 handbags and an extra case that we took with us full of new clothes we just about managed to shut all 3 cases J.

Only downer was the weather it was mixed to say the least we had been hitting 90+ for most of the first week then it dropped down to high 60’s and we had cloud, rain, thunder and lightning and even a bit of sleet on the day we came back!!!! Oh and I managed to sleep through the earthquake there was on the 1st Oct which I was gutted about, we were on the 36th floor and my mate said the hotel had a right sway on!!!!

Overall a wonderful trip and I cant wait to get back it was defo the break I needed, now I have the task of looking for next years flights J I got miles for money flights for £480 for the trip we've just been on for next year there £630!!!!!!

Thanks again guys for all your input on here we wouldn’t have done half the stuff we’ve done over the years without it!!!!

    Viva Las Vegas!!!!!!

We arrive on the 28th, and leave on Nov. 6th
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
