adam i have been emailing del back & forward over the last few weeks about other possible destinations - he has been fab.
i would prefer to fly BA - I noticed some of the Virgin reviews aren't great, but then I suppose not everyone would fly BA.

There really is not much difference at the back of the bus between Virgin and BA. If I was flying economy, I'd choose Virgin simply because the flight gets in a lot earlier. Seat comfort is pretty much the same. (My next trip at Christmas is in First Class thanks to Tesco points, and Virgin do not have First class, so am flying BA :) )

For those that don't already know The Heart Attack Grill will be opening here tomorrow. Anyone over 350lbs will eat for free!!!!!!! It's in the Neonoplis Building on the corner of Fremont and LV Blvd. It has such delights as the 'Single', 'Double', 'Triple' and 'Quadruple' Bypass Burgers. Not forgetting the 'Butterfat' Shake and 'Flatliner' fries!!!! Good luck :)

Yum, yum, yum....at the burger not the waitress btw...:D, Thanks Dee, puts it on the list of places to try this upcoming trip.

  • hi everyone :-)
    thanks for all you replies.
we will probably spend 1 night in london before we travel, then i suppose it would be a good idea to book the same hotel for the 10 nights paid for my FIL then book 1 or 2 nights in a luxury room/suite or whatever takes our fancy i suppose!!
oh exciting times! just need to convince OH to do the GC helicopter trip.....wish me luck lol!!!
i know i should research it myself, but what temp should we expect for early Aug? And will all pools be way over crowded?
any hotels recommended by the pool quality/availability? we aren't sun worshippers but will prob spend one or 2 mornings by the pool :-)

    thanks adam & ferf.
i know this isnt the most mse way to think about the cost, but my future father in law is paying for the honeymoon, so for the sake of £100 or so, I would rather book it all through the agent to put my mind at rest & take the pressure of me if the flight times are changed or whatever.

Make sure it's a proper package then...and even then, I'm not 100% sure that will mean things will be sorted for you...personally we prefer to have the relationship with the airline and with the hotel ourselves, so we don't have to go via a 3rd party if things go wrong?

Not saying don't use an agent (and nothing at all personal against Del) - while I never do, I can understand why in some cases it is useful for some people - just make sure that you're not just booking flights + hotels, no different to what you can book yourself. Way too many stories of people thinking they have booked a package when they haven't.

Another one who prefers Virgin to BA due to flight times, pre-selecting seats in advance for free (unless they have changed that too)...I had a list of other reasons I could probably find if I tried - but it's mainly the flight times...would so much rather get to Vegas early afternoon.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • thanks ferf - its not del who i would be booking with so dont worry about that, as it is a travel agent 2 mins from where i work.
i will defo check that out - i just assumed that because she quoted me flights & hotel that it must be a package! very naive of me :-(
i know i could book BA directly but i also had a look at expedia & the flights are the same price, but I would get cash back from quidco plus 200 nectar points lol!
all this is very helpful - im only 24 & not very well travelled so a lot of things i wouldn't have thought about! thanks :-)

on another note - if certificates are still showing in you restaurant.com account, does that mean they are still available for use? we have 5 in there from our last trip
thanks again everyone, really appreciate it :-)

Just remember that BA now run a 744 to Vegas, used to be a 777 which was pretty comfy in the back, much more so than the VS planes. And I prefer to get there later in the evening, get to hotel about 8pm, shower, out and ready for the night. Not having to stay awake form the time you land at 1-2pm until bed time (I remember you ferf trying desperately to keep your eyes open at 8pm). I wouldn't worry about the seat allocation thing, you can book exit row seats with BA from 14 days out, and they are £25 cheaper than with VS. Also not many people bother paying for the privilege of pre-allocating seats when we flew cattle with them, at 24 hours there was almost the whole Y section to choose from.
So my vote goes to BA.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Another thing to remember when deciding on BA v VS is the airport. Gatwick is pretty decent these days - security is a whole lot better - and if you want lounge access, you can pay for it (or if you have a priority pass card).

Heathrow T5 can be chaotic when it's busy, and if you are not flying business or first, you can't pay for lounge access and they do not accept priority pass.
