Both - depends on what you want to do and what you're comfortable with...we rarely ever dress up - but we're not dress-up people, we're not comfortable...we like that we can be casual and fit in just fine. Some people love getting dressed up and use Vegas as an opportunity to really go all out...just really depends on the person.

You will see people in shorts and tank tops and people in ball gowns and tuxes. With the exception of some higher end restaurants with dress codes you really will see such a variety of attire...clubs have dress codes as well...but not much else does...we just don't go to places we would feel we had to dress up for.

one of those made me do a double take - at first glance it could have been my husband and I wondered how exactly he was in your photo. :)

Thanks for sharing the photos - I'm getting really excited now!

As those who were there can testify,

A phenomenally hot August all right, but to put it into perspective for those who experienced it ...... August 2011 was cooler than 7 out of the last 9 Julys, and something like 2.5F lower than the all time average month record from July 2010. It was also only 5th in the record books for the average daily high in August .... this year the average daily low was an alltime high (if you can follow that!)

Ferfs right. I spent nine hours grinding at the poker tables in Mirage yesterday. When I finished around 8pm, there was a mixture of people in shorts and people dressed to party milling around reception.

Question has been asked many times and Ferfs answers sums it up.

We dont take dress up clothes, at least i dont, my wife does sneak some in. for the most part of the last 9 days in Vegas I was in shorts, fip flops and t shirt.

I did put jeans on and a short sleeved shirt on one night to go to Texas de Brazil but wish I had kept my shorts on

    Its up to you!

Thats one of the things I love about Vegas (apart from gambling, eating, drinking and shopping!) is that you can wear anything at anytime of the day and not look out of place. The first time I went, I stressed about what to take thought it would be really glam in the casinos. These days I take a couple of nice outfits for evenings (for 3 -4 weeks!) and the rest is casual with the most important accessory.......comfortable shoes!

I can confirm it was hot in August (28/7-18/8) but the casinos were lovely and cool with $1 cocktails :)

Twice we've made an effort (just a bit) and hubby has done the shirt/jeans thing and I've gone for a skirt and nice top only to get there and have people dressed in track-suits on the table next to us...The Steakhouse at CC and Austin's at Texas Station...unlike many people, dressing up is annoying to us, so finding it we didn't really have to was extra annoying. :)

We did dress up for Top of the World as we knew they had a dress code...I still think that the biggest food-related disappointment in Vegas for us, and we dressed up for it to boot! Could have gone to EI in whatever we were wearing and had ribs and been much happier. Although, OK, not such a nice view.
