Marchwe would absolutely pick up the day before.
Where are you picking the car up? What day of the week (if the day before).
The strip can be quite busy, but it's not constant gridlock...Friday and Saturday nights are the worst...but afternoons aren't normally too bad.
I haven't done it myself, but I'm sure that there is a back entrance to Cosmo so you could avoid the Strip if you wanted to.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
However after hearing horror stories about the constant grid lock on the strip I was wondering if collecting the car the day before we leave might not be worth the hassle?
We are staying at the Cosmopolitan.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Last trip, we were there for a week and not once drove down the strip. There are *almost* parallel roads both sides that are usually empty, running down the back passages of the strip hotels. Koval on the MGM side and Frank Sinatra on the Cosmo side. If the Strip is also backed up north of Venetian, use Industrial.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
I'd pick it up in the afternoon the day before too. Not cos of traffic tho, just because the rental desks in the morning can be a pain in the rear with everyone collecting. First couple of times we'd be stuck queuing for over half an hour just to get the keys.0

Thanks for the replys guys!
It would be a tueaday afternoon if we picked up the day before. approx 2pm. Not sure about pick up location? I assumed the airport would be the most strait forward place. I prefer the idea of picking up the day before, i just wasn't sure how arduous getting back to the cosmo might be.0 -
Depending on which hire company youre using, you could pick up at a strip hotel, which seems easier doesnt it? Dollar/Thrifty recently been ejected from MGM hotels, but TI still do them. Hertz I think is Caesars group.
Also this from tripadvisorRe: Location of Cosmopolitan car rental (Hertz) desk?

Thanks for that, however, after 40 minutes of backwards and forwards between towers and no one having a clue, someone eventually led me to a small desk in the level 2 east tower lift corridorillegitimi non carborundum0 -
Marchagree that picking up at the hotel is much more convenient - though the selection of cars may be more limited. Dollar at Bellagio once tried to give me an SUV (a small one, but still an SUV) instead of the full-size I'd rented...some would have been delighted at the upgrade, I wasn't willing to even attempt to drive it - luckily they had a full size come in while I was there or I may have had a bit of a wait for something of a reasonable size - we were also driving to the Grand Canyon so really didn't want a monster.
Worth a look at least - sometimes picking up at a hotel is more expensive, sometimes it isn't...we've had it both ways so pays to check. If you do rent from the rental car facility - you will have to get there somehow (it's not at the airport but further south).Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
AprilHello all
We have just booked our flights to vegas for Easter 2012. I have been several times before, however this time we are wanting to go to San Francisco for three or four days. There is four of us going and I just wondered if anyone knew which would be the best way of getting their ? how long is the drive or is it easier and chaeper to fly? if so which website to find flights on etc ?
Thanks in advance for any help0 -
OctoberJust got a call from virgin customer services about our flight on Thursday from MAN. They offered us an upgrade from Premium to Upper for
£1,350.00!
One way!!
each!!:rotfl::eek:The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
