  • You can still drive over the dam and park but only as far as the concessions on the Arizona side. Then you have to turn back as the road is closed further on. And you have to go through the security inspection stop before entering the dam site.

We had a reaaly good rate and booking for Desert Rose for April this year but cancelled and stayed at Bally's instead. I would be interested to hear what its like if you wouldn't mind reporting back on it. Are there still reports of credit card problems? It wasn't because of this we cancelled, one of our party had walking difficulties at time so thought strip would be easier. Booked it through a Black Friday offer last November.

    Nice 50th gift!

Yes of course I'll report back...I've been monitoring the travel forums and haven't seen anything to indicate the credit card fraud is still happening....anyway I've paid via expedia so my booking is all sorted so I won't or rather shouldn't have to leave any details at the desk.

I picked it due to price, convenience and proximity to some casinos and the fact many people rave about it on Tripadvisor. That and the kitchen I won't probably use, the free coffee and the breakfasts.

Went to wicked spoon buffet at Cosmo last night. In April lunch was $21 and dinner $29, changed to brunch and dinner and is now $35 in the evenings.

Wasn't as good in my opinion, still nice individual servings but disappointed with crab legs. They used to be 3 crab claws per portion nicely presented and already prepared (no messing about trying to get the meat out) but now has just gone to the bog standard heap of legs and sort them out yourself and not the best ones either. Still lovely salads and chocolate strawberries. I wouldn't rush back but would still say have a visit if you do buffets.
Like stoneman says $70 for 2 can get you a sit down meal but we like to try different things and as a group its easier. I believe Ferf is going to try it, don't be put off its only my opinion and I still did enjoy it, my boys loved it.
    Try the bone marrow.........

I've been searching Oatman on each year's thread and can't find anything where someone has actually gone to Oatman - did you guys ever make it?

We may be making a side trip to Laughlin next month (I know it's hotter there than Vegas - eep)...and I kind of want to go to Oatman - always have....if we do it, we'll do a loop out via Kingman onto Oatman, over to Laughlin and back to Vegas...I know it's about 6 hours total driving time, but going out to Oatman via Kingman will get a good chunk of that out of the way, then a stop in Laughlin...probably also Searchlight. :)

CET has this silly offer on at the moment - that if you 'check in'/run at least $5 through properties in at least 3 regions you get $150 in reward credits...we can actually do it and may just go for it - between us that is $300 to spend on the following trip on food or whatever...plus the 6 hours drive time is time we will NOT be in a casino losing money. :)

I know probably doesn't work for most, but just in case.

Tell me about it...we're staying for our last night on 1st November after Texas detour and couldn't work out why midweek rates were stupidly high like MGM for £170 a night, until we checked the Convention calendar. Managed to snare PH Towers on Priceline name your own price for £55 :j

When are you going ferf? We're going to be stopping off at Oatman on the way from the Grand Canyon and would be happy to post a few pics etc but think it's probably too late for you...will be 23rd September before we get there.

Shame CET weren't doing that offer last year...we could have done Lake Tahoe, Reno & Vegas no worries and bagged $150 each :(

Edit: No, wait...San Diego as well so 30,000 credits - is that really $300 each?! Damn!!

    Hi everyone,
Treasure Island have a 48 hour sale and are offering a tower suite for 10 nights in November for $1693 Inc tax around £1029 at current rate, does that seem like a good deal to you?
    Thanks.
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you always get so....this year I'm going to do things differently!

Great deal, real pity it's over before we get there, we always pop over to Laughlin, I can highly recommend the Aquarius Casino...did very well there and can't wait to go back.

Whatever you do, don't be like [STRIKE]us[/STRIKE] people who are a bit daft :D and nearly run out of petrol on the way....as we keep saying, best win of the trip last march, was seeing Searchlight whilst we were going about 15 mph through the desert to save petrol....adrenaline rush like no other.

Also remember it is a speed trap and speed limit is 25mph. Fully intend to go back that away ourselves when I announce the surprise birthday pressie to hubby. We said we'd try and hit 4 states last time and I have a real hankering to get to Reno at some point.

Another beautiful memory was driving away from Laughlin at night, up the mountain back toward Vegas, and seeing Laughlin Casino's all lit up behind us....plus spotting the cop car hiding on the centre of the highway waiting for speeders.;)

Don't forget that if shopping in the Laughlin Outlets, if you ask at the customer services desk, they'll give you a discount booklet for free. Hubby got his Levi's for rock bottom prices and got a great deal overall.

Hi I've had a quick shufty on Expedia and am getting £555 for 10 night at Bill's Gamblin hall...do you get any extra's with this price, also do you have a resort fee on top of the price you'll pay as that mounts up? As I'm not sure of your dates I can't properly check but I'm sure that there is much cheaper deals as November is supposed to be a quiet month in Vegas.
