JulyHas anyone who's been recently seen a guy with a snake on the Strip (to have photo's taken with)? If so, where??
didn't see a snake guy last week, but there was a guy outside the Bellagio fountains with one of those huge lizard/komodo dragon things... must have been about 5 foot long!
on a different note, does Virgin Flying Club only give you half the number of miles if you buy flights during a sale? i've just logged into my account, and i earned 5222 points last time each way (LGW-LAS) but only 2611 points each way this time?
how many points do you have to earn to get any decent kind of upgrade/discount on future VA flights? at the mo I have 15666...0 -

It seems to be you get a certain number of miles depending on how much and which level of seat you spend on your tickets. I don't know the exact calculation though (I noticed there was a difference in the miles you get for the tix I bought compaired to the non-sale price).
When you're logged in look at http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/frequentflyer/spendmiles/index.jsp as it explains how you can spend the points.0 -
Marchas somone who also dislikes being taken shopping with the oh, i would rather go from experience to the outlet at the north of the strip, better choice of shops i found then the one down past mandalay bay. I dont count fashion mall, miracle mile as 'shopping' as there is so much more there other then shops
In terms of the blokey thing, town centre probably has enough stuff to keep her happy, it has an Apple store but the best blokes place is Frys which is to the south side of town centre (walking distance) It is full to the brim with boys toys. It is also fairly close to the premium outlets south. You can also pick up a photo op at the welcome to vegas sign0 -
MayThere was a guy with what looked like a Land Monitor lizard near the Harley-Davidson Cafe, but no snakes.0

If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

OctoberThis for the Palms on Groupon getaways. $89 for midweek stay including 2 breakfast buffet passes and gaming credit. Additional $15 resort fee payable. you can buy 3 to use together. With tax works out at $116. Would be interesting to know the gaming credit value
Edit: Gaming credit is $20 and the resort fee includes $20 drinks voucher at the casino bar.

Marchjust got our voucher from CH3000 for September and it's with Alamo.
Has anyone joined their Alamo Insiders programme? Just wondering if it works as well as Dollar Express or if it's not worth bothering with.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MarchOut of the 4 we went too Vegas was a big let down. Not sure if it was all the hype everyone we met gave it or just the fact that SF & SM were far more interesting, but its not a place we would rush back too.
Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your time in Vegas...I suppose there is the potential for it to be over-hyped especially by big fans like many of us on this board.
Was there anything specific that you found disappointing, or it just wasn't to your taste overall?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I've been to Santa Monica with work for one night once before and loved it but like you hated LA!
My view on Vegas is that you need to plan the trip well and have a great idea of what you want to achieve or you can be overwhelmed by it all and not know what to do!
We have decided on something like the following for our March/April trip;
4 Nights Las Vegas at Rio, Hire a car from dollar and drive to Santa Monica, 1 Night Santa Monica, Drive to Disneyland - 2 nights/days at Disneyland, drive to San Diego, 1 Night San Diego, Drive back to Vegas, 4 Nights at Bally's
The road part is quite intensive but I've done route 1 and San Fran to LA etc.. before so quite happy with it, all the hotels at Vegas are comped keeping the costs low!0 -
November / DecemberI have no idea about the Alamo programme, but suspect that they will be similar to Dollar. I know that Advantage do the same thing. I registered with them, but didn't end up using them when our prices decreased with CH3000, and our reservation was changed.
If you prefer Dollar, you can ask CH300 to check the price for you and let you know if it reduces.0
