    Thanks everyone. I didn't realise that if I paid it all before I wouldn't really be able to take advantage of any comps I had gained. So, if I pay the deposit now then I pay the rest when I get there, and that will stay at the price that was arranged at my time of booking. The price of a night wouldn't go up if it changed on the day or anything?

    the price will stay the same.
    Only the exchange rate will make it more/less expensive.

    You actually officially pay the rest when you check out. :)

    It also gives you the freedom to keep an eye out for better deals along the way...but gives you the comfort of knowing you have something locked in at a rate you are happy with...that's why so many here do it this way. I do understand liking to pay as much as you can in advance though...we try to do whatever we can that way...I find it somewhat depressing to get a credit card bill after the holiday with loads of holiday stuff on it...only because it reminds me that it's over and done with.
    Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your time in Vegas...I suppose there is the potential for it to be over-hyped especially by big fans like many of us on this board.

    Was there anything specific that you found disappointing, or it just wasn't to your taste overall?
    I think i just didnt find the whole casino and all day drinking thing a novelty.

    I go to casinos in the uk fairly often and apart from the size theres very little diffrence between the two.

    Resturants were great in vegas.

    Think our main dissapointment was the bars. We like a drink and some live music in a pub back home but we couldnt find anywhere like that in vegas. The bars seemed to be just bars with a few stools around them not pub type places like over here
    Of course the crazy beer prices was off putting but we knew what to expect before getting there

    We spent most of our time in Ballys at night because they had a live band on. The piano bar at NYNY was also fun.
    I did enjoy walking around and people watching durring the day.

    I suppose i just found it tedious having to work your way through 1000s of slot machines in the casinos just to get to a good restuarant or live show/bar.
    I do quite a bit of gambling and enjoy casinos but after a few days id had enough of trying to work my way around them to find the other non gambling related stuff.

    Cant fault the rooms in the Mirage though. Best hotel room we had durring our whole time in the US.

    TBH we found vegas quite dull (i mean that in the nicest possible way) compared to San fran and Santa monica.
    I was gutted that we didn like it, as it was the place we were most looking forward to and the reason we spent half our holiday there

    Heyy all. Looking to book our hotel soon and we're definitely staying in the mirage. When I go to the booking page it says you just pay a deposit. Does this mean you only pay a deposit now, and then pay the rest when you get there, or are you able to pay it all off before you go? We don't really want to have to keep money for that when we're there and would rather get it out of the way.
    We stayed here. When checking in they asked if we wanted to keep the accout open so we could charge things to room. We said no so they billed us for the total amount on check in

    Restaurant Week!

    Restaurant Week will be spanning two weeks this year:
    http://www.yelp.com/topic/las-vegas-restaurant-week-2011

    Here is the menus' from last year! We only did Diablo's but wish we'd got around to doing more :)
    http://www.threesquare.org/events/event-calendar/restaurant-week/

    YUM YUM! :)

    The Restaurant Week (Three Square) website is very slowly (and I mean very slowly!) filling up with offers for this years event - after about a week it only had 4 restaurants listed, but a few more on there now!

    The idea is basically loads of restaurants set up "set menus" and a specified donation amount from each menu goes to charity.

    For example, BLT Burger @ Mirage are taking part with the following offer for $20.11 (of which $4 goes to local Las Vegas charity stuff!):

    1. First Course:
      Garlic Shoestring Fries & Choice Of Soft Drink
    2. Second Course:
      Taste Of BLT: BLT Slider, Turkey Slider & Lamb Slider
    3. Third Course:
      S'more Cupcake
    Website is here:
    http://www.helpoutdineoutlv.org/restaurants/menus

    Restaurant Week is for 2 weeks this year, starting August 29th and ending September 11th.

    We participated last year and thought it was brilliant value for money, and its a good way to budget your eating at some of the posher places, but still get great food (tho we only had chance to do Diablo's)! :)

    The website will be fully up to date with all the restaurants closer to the time, however if you're curious you can find them mentioned by ThreeSquare on Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/threesquareLV

    Restaurants include:
    @dvinoLV
    @BLTBurgerLV
    @MorelsLasVegas
    @DragonNoodleLV
    @BrandSteakLV
    @CasaDiAmore
    @AlizeLV
    @Table10LasVegas
    @PanevinoLV
    @RenaissanceLV
    @joesvegas
    @taolasvegas
    @LavoLasVegas
    @CharliePalmerGP
    @AndresLasVegas
    @PierosLasVegas
    @CommeCaLV
    (apologies, just ripped that off Twitter but you can work them out!)

    anyways, i'll stop babbling :D

    edit: WestHamDaz recently mentioned 'Brand Steakhouse' at Monte Carlo, so may be worth a look if anyone's there whilst this is on?

    Quick query regarding expiry of Players Card points - may as well utilise the existing knowledge here than go hunting around on websites! :D

    Query is specifically re: !!!!!!, Wynncore & Hurrah's :D;) and their points expiry, so:
    a) do the points expire XX months after they are earnt?
    b) or XX months after the card is last used?

    Presume its the latter but wanted to verify :) (re: expiry; !!!!!! & wynncore are 12 mths from memory and hurray's is 6 mths)
