I presume that even if you are staying at the Orleans you still need to pay for Bowling and the Cinema etc...? Think it would be pretty cool to stay off strip for part of a stay and have never considered it before but thinking of it for my 2012 stay!

Yes you have to pay for both but you usually get a bogof for bowling when you check in.

I am staying there for a couple of nights in Aug for the 4th time, its my favourite casino

one other good thing about the cinema at Orleans - you can, even if you are not going to a movie, go and buy a nice bag of hot buttered popcorn to take back down and munch on while wandering around in the casino. :)
OMG, I am gonna go there next trip. One thing I really miss is salted buttered popcorn, the British never really seemed to get their heads around this. They used to have a butter pumper behind the tills at our local cinema, but they said there was no call for it so it got taken out nationwide. Tracy still cringes when I do this at home.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I wanna go see Hangover II next Thursday, so if anyone got a recommendation for a nice cinema (can drive there if need be), i'm all ears! I aint a snob, but when it comes to movies, i prefer to pay that bit more to get bigger seats and so on :)

Check the Palms to see if they have it on an IMAX screen . (If you don't want to drive take the free shuttle from Bill's to the Gold Coast and cross the road to the Palms)

One more thing about the Orleans is that if you play even a bit there chances are you'll see comp rooms pop up in your B-connected account on-line. Not restricted to midweek either which is brilliant if you're looking for somewhere to move to for the weekend when Strip prices go silly. There's always a slots credit in there too (which I usually forget to print out)

agree - cinema popcorn here is awful. No call for it?! what nonsense is that? Even so, probably they were pumping it on cold stale popcorn

Just had this offer from Travelzoo for the Signature Suites at the MGM Grand.

    It's £53 a night Sun-Thurs until 31st Aug.

    http://www.travelzoo.com/uk/hotels/usa-canada/-53-Las-Vegas-Suite-at-4-Star-Resort-on-The-Strip-1040083/?utm_source=top20_uk&utm_medium=email_top20

Hopefully it may be of use to someone.

There is a 2 night minimum, and don't forget the damn resort fee which it states is £13.50 per night!

I have still not booked my accommodation - cannot make my mind up!

I think I am holding out to see if any offers come out nearer the time, most only run until August, but we are not going until dec 21st?

any advice on how full hotels get, should I book now...?

Been looking at 5*, Venetian, maybe Vdara, maybe Wynn, but the resort fees are putting me off a bit as well

Vegas never runs out of rooms. 21-28 Dec are fairly quiet and cheap in my experience (two Xmases in Vegas).

from my (limited) experience, deals direct with hotels are usually for the next couple of months ahead... so December deals may not come around til September-ish? Places like Expedia I haven't worked out, they can have deals months and months ahead?

can definitely definitely recommend the Vdara FWIW... we're heading back there in a month's time, got a good deal through Expedia in February. i know we're visiting Vegas, but the hotel for us is more than just somewhere to crash for the night and the suites at the Vdara are amaaaazing :D
it's horses for courses, but for us staying somewhere like that pays for itself.

I do fancy Vdara, and I have emailed them and they have offered me a very nice upgrade...they are good value on Expedia and the like....I like the ultra modern rooms, and the larger rooms especially, although I am attracted to the Venetian because of the overall surroundings..hmm...Vdara doesnt have the resort fee either does it. It was a bit of an extravagence this holiday, and I want to save where I can, but equally I think it will be the only time we go, so I dont want to choose something to save a couple of hundred bucks and then wish we had splashed out that bit more.

(Believe it or not, I work in hotel sales/revenue management - you think I would make a decision quicker!!)
