or am i worrying too much!
Your ESTA only needs to be valid for your entry to the US.
As for the 6 months needed to be left on your passport, there are actually very few countries that have the 6 months rule.0 -

Heard quite a lot about the Orleans, only thing putting me off is distance from the strip, seeing as the first 3 nights are downtown. What makes the Orleans a good place to stay? Or what does it offer which an on strip hotel wont for the same price ?? Thanks in advance0 -
SeptemberOrleans has:-
Nice quiet pool
Affordable drinks (pool and casino bars)
Affordable liquor store
Affordable eateries including food court
Good buffet, cheap and $7 bottles of wine at the buffet
McMullan's Irish pub with good quiz on thursdays (across the road)
Shuttle to Bills (mid strip)
Shuttle to Gold Coast (beside Palms and Rio)
Good room prices
Large rooms
Good open parking lot if hiring a car
Cinema and bowling (I think) if you like that
We've stayed there a few times now, although we also like The Platinum which is more upscale, have enjoyed The Venetian, Bellagio etc, but Orleans has more atmosphere, albeit not in an upmarket way. It's got a good fun feeling, I like it for what it is.0 -
Marchwe have a Slingbox and haven't had problems accessing it via any Vegas hotel's internet service - at least not those that we have tried...and no, we don't use it often, but occasionally it's nice to access our Sky box while in Vegas...got it mainly for hubby's F1 addiction (as he got tired of jumping through hoops to watch it via other means while in Vegas due to the aforementioned IP restrictions - many of the standard proxies are blocked by the UK feeds too). We've never tried using Skype though.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

SeptemberThank you Lesley. I am quite tempted by The Orleans and I think if it wasnt for the fact we are already spending 3 days off strip, we would go for it, but I think 6 days off strip will be a bit much for what will be our last visit to vegas for a lonnnnnng time0

MayOrleans is "Off Strip" in a very different way to staying say at Freemont Street -it's free to get to the Strip -shuttles now start at 9am run every fifteen minutes until just after midnight and take less than 10 minutes. I find it's quicker to get mid-Strip from the Orleans than say from the Riviera which is actually on Strip. I was booked into Ceasars earlier this month and switched to the Orleans -and honestly had more fun at the Orleans. The staff are friendly, the rooms huge, the slots are looser- you can get anything from a good steak , Oysters, Chinese, a decent burger or a buffet for less than half the price of the Strip -it's a really good place to switch to to avoid the weekend inflated rates on Strip. The other thing I like is it isn't a hike from your room to everywhere. We once had a race with friends staying at MGM-they left from their MGM room at the same time we left ours on the 19th floor at the Orleans-and we met at the Flamingo-even with a short wait for the shuttle we arrived well ahead of them
And yes there is cinema and bowling too -never tried the cinema (prefer the IMAX at the Palms) but we've had fun bowling at silly o clock in the morning -the 70 odd lanes are beautifully kept there.
I think to answer your question -there isn't a Strip hotel that offers so much for the same or even close moneyI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I presume that even if you are staying at the Orleans you still need to pay for Bowling and the Cinema etc...? Think it would be pretty cool to stay off strip for part of a stay and have never considered it before but thinking of it for my 2012 stay!0

Marchone other good thing about the cinema at Orleans - you can, even if you are not going to a movie, go and buy a nice bag of hot buttered popcorn to take back down and munch on while wandering around in the casino.
We saw a movie there several years ago - it was a Harry Potter movie, but I can't remember which one...we went to the first show on a weekday and it was pretty dead in there - very nice change to packed theatres at the weekend at home. I think all their screens may now be DLP, which is also a nice thing.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
