    oh, and more importantly..........
England play footy on Saturday for the Euro Qualifier, i think Kick-Off will be 4:30pm (so 8:30am LV time).... Anyone recommend where i can go to watch it ? :)

The Queen Vic at the Riviera, Brit pub with full english brekkie (HP sauce as well). Probably will be busier than when we watched the Tottenham and Arsenal Champions league games ( actually drifted off playing machines when the gooners were on).

Fun to see some slightly bewildered locals when there were some opinions being voiced about the competence of the referee!

once...we've only been once...and for us it was enough...but I feel it really has to be done.

Lol we go everytime we visit Vegas. Course we always seem to come out with something rather nice for the family. It's one of those stores that amongst all the rubbish, there's a gem to be had (A bit like Poundland I suppose) :rotfl:

On the subject of shopping... what is the deal with getting hold of day-to-day groceries?

Im going to be there for 11 nights at the end of this month, so would be looking to do a bit of cheap drinking in the room before going out, without having to pay the mini-bar prices!

Will be bringing in a couple of bottles of spirits from Manchester's Duty Free, but am I going to be able to get hold of a 2litre bottle of Coke, or a 6pack of beer on the strip (not going to have a car). I'm not expecting to see a massive Tesco (Walmart?) type superstore overlooking to Bellagio Lake, but do smaller shops on the strip sell booze at a decent price?

Assuming that the answer to the above is negative, are there bus routes out to such shops?

Finally, is it going to be a problem if I waltz into the hotel with bags full of drink and food?

Thanks for your collective encyclopaedic knowledge!

I can't comment on the beer bit (one of the Vegas regulars will be able to help with that ;)), but there's Walgreens, CVS and a few little places like that on the strip that sell snacks, water, pop etc. We've waltzed through a few casinos with all kinds of bits in bags and no-one has said anything to us, they aren't fussed.

We are all law abiding citizens here so would never ever dream of drinking our own alcohol in a Vegas hotel........

We usually use Wally World or Vons (both too far away if you have no car) for drink but did find MGM selling Grey Goose at roughly the same price as the above. (all cheaper than UK duty free)

As has already been said, Walgrens or CVS are probably your best bet for mixers. We usually fill our water bottles with a home made concoction to take to the pools

An ice bucket or two full of ice and a large sink usually keeps things nice and cold.

Maybe also ABC Store in the Miracle Mile shops might be reasonably convenient...possibly. We regularly head back to our room with bags of shopping...but we would probably be a bit more discreet staying at Bellagio...we would still haul shopping back to the room, we would just try to conceal it a bit more. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Easy to get beer and soft drinks on the strip. There is the Grand Canyon Experience next to MGM then an ABC a little further up. There are a few shops that sells alcohol between the Hawaiian Marketplace and Showcase Mall. 12 beers is around $16.

ABC in the Miracle Mile and the liquor store behind Bill's is cheap.
