JulyWOOOOOOhooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!
Roll on Friday, roll on Virgin-Atlantic getting me to Vegas Turbulence free!!
Anyone used that No.1 Traveller lounge in Gatwick South?? I bought a groupon for there giving access and free munchies (danish crap, does say only 1 free bacon buttie, gutted!!!)
Anyone stayed at 'Stanhill Court hotel' just outside Gatwick before?
Also, the Free WiFi you Pay for in the hotels, anyone know if they restrict data as such? ie: Skype & Viber (VOIP), anyone used there laptops or Iphones with those programs to speak to peeps back in the UK ?
lucky you Stuie! still a month to wait here!
will be really interested to see how you get on with the Groupon deal, i bought a couple of those as well. do you have contact them in advance to make a 'reservation' of sorts?
edit - re: the football this place just off the Aria lobby showed a lot of UK football when we were there in September0 -
oh, and more importantly..........
England play footy on Saturday for the Euro Qualifier, i think Kick-Off will be 4:30pm (so 8:30am LV time).... Anyone recommend where i can go to watch it ?
Dont go to the crown and anchor, unless you are willing to part with $20 each to get in.
I went there with the missus the other year to catch a qualifier and they wanted $40 for us to just get through the door.
I told them to shove it and caught the game at the MGM grand sports book instead0 -
JuneAm staying at the Tropicana, so Southern part i think (never can tell which is north or south over there!!!)
MGM's ? Thats opposite me, so its possible it will be on show in there sometime ?
Crikey - that Todd English place, drinks look very pricey !! or is that the norm ? ($10 a glass of wine, $10 a pint of beer, or $6 a bottle of Coors light)0 -

A lot of the hotels ive stayed in in vegas dont have WiFi in the rooms only a wired ethernet connection. Thats ok if your taking a laptop and ive also never had problems using Skype etc. I can even log into my CCTV at home and watch live video.
I have also bought the groupon for the lounge so am interested as to what you think of it.
As for getting there turbulence free, forget it. Its normally pretty choppy on the approach to vegas but youll be soooo excited to get there (and off the plane) i doubt it will bother you.0 -
Stuie, last year I watched ENgland v USA in ESPN zone at NYNY. They may have the game on. Might be worth asking beforehand.0

In 2009, the champions league quarter finals (Liverpool v. Chelsea) was shown on the majority of the TV's throughout NYNY, (both in the sportsbook and at the tables too...)
I've been there when England internationals have been on too but usually miss them due to the time-difference (and other distractions!) - a few times i've been driving down the strip with Radio 1 on (on Sirius with time-delay) and they're talking about football about to begin so i've dashed back to the hotel to watch it to discover it finished hours before... DOH!
Quite a few years ago, I watched Notts Forest v. Salisbury on the TV in my room (@ Luxor - FA Cup game) whilst waiting for the missus to get herself sorted out
...with all that in mind, I reckon you should be able to find somewhere quite easily to watch football... err, i mean soccer0 -
JuneI just had a thought.......
As i will have my laptop with me (wifi or wired), i should be able to stream ??
I am signed up to 'Catchup TV' so i can watch it on my iphone, or through the computer ? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, will have to test that theory out (i know some things dont work when your out of the country, but i can route through a UK VPN anyway)

Lol, you wont have time to watch TV in vegas.
I think you would need to go via a VPN as tv catchup probably only allow uk ip addys.0
