Noooooooo MGM is remote enough -Trop with the messing about crossing is worse-certainly not ideal for November when it can be chilly. There's nothing special about the Trop that would make the poorer location worth it.I'd rate Trop below all three -yes it has had a facelift but it's not like they knocked it down and rebuilt it-just tarted it up a bit. Incidently I find the criscrossing to get from that area back to centre strip annoying

    .

Totally agree with you about the Trop, there are dozens of hotels I would choose before that. It might only be across the rd from the MGM but its still a trek (is there 14 lanes on the rd at that junction ?)

For a first visit I think central is prob most important, but with price factored in

Chicago experts... Does this sort of time to clear immigration seem the norm?

This is useful...we have never had that sort of a wait at ORD...but obviously individual experiences will vary depending on how many other international flights are coming in the same time.

What's the Duty free selection @ Mccarren airport like.
Does it sell the latest beauty products like Lancome/estee Lauder and perfumes?

If yes, are the cheaper at the airport or is it better to buy them from a local store?

It's very, very small...they have some beauty products but quite a limited selection...they are cheaper than local stores though.

Terminal 2 is not very exciting at all...rather depressing really...bad enough to be leaving Vegas but if the terminal was nicer it might not seem so bad.

Chicken soup with a huge matzoh ball at Cantors Deli for lunch.

Also they have a really easy/low standard poker tourney there in the afternoons.

I have always though the same, must be one of the worst departure areas there is for the size of airport

Hi all I REALLY need to catch up on this thread - its been a couple of weeks again! *doh*

Just reading up on luggage weights and sizes on Virgin flight in Sep to LV, and seen this

    http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/us/passengerinformation/baggage/extra.jsp

Does this mean one of us (ahem, the missus) could take an extra bag for the stated cost, and is that cost for both ways? Went to New York as part of college trip a couple of years ago and we were so paranoid about luggage allowances and weights etc, but this cost, to us and the grand scheme of things (a vegas/partly gambling honeymoon) this "small" cost would be worth it...
