I booked a GO room at the Flamingo for my next visit in Sept and got an amazing deal but I keep reading horror stories about the Flamingo (not the GO room but the whole hotel) on Trip Advisor etc..and now I'm wondering whether just to pay the extra few hundred bucks for the Mirage.
Should I stick to my guns and give the GO room a shot or should I just bit the bullet and book the Mirage?
I think you'll be happy with the Flamingo-it has a different feel to Mirage-and a fantastic location. I've never had a bad stay there-and the only people Iknow who have were in deluxe rooms. $20 trick should get you a fab fountain view Go room.
I was there last Tuesday-gambled a bit, did a show and ate at Johnny Rockets and saw nothing that raised any flags.
I love the OTT Go bathrooms-they are soooooooo VegasI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
MarchTriker great trip report though i am blaming you for a lack of sleep getting rather excited!!! you mention dollar express is this something I can sort out now for my hire car on Sunday! Not long now!!!!
You could try joining now anyway - I cannot remember if they send you the number by email or give it to you straight away - or if you don't know your number until it arrives in the post...but couldn't hurt to sign up.
We've had varying degress of success when booking through CH3000 - always ask that the Express number be noted on the booking - sometimes it is, sometimes it's not - never know until we go to pick up the car...if it is - we go down to the Express counter and they have my contract already printed (I think now they may be assigning cars too - there was a board with names and bay numbers like at some other Dollar locations)...if it isn't, when we get to the Express counter we just give them my Express number and they pull it up and print it then...so either way we skip the queue upstairs.
I can see if there's no queue upstairs it's not a lot of time savings, but if there is a queue upstairs, it can be a really great thing.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
AugustHi all- can anyone recommend a good tour operator for a trip to the South Rim of the Canyon?
Best price I can get is about 130 per person with viator and a coupon code...0 -
after having our hotels booked for some time now, and with just over 3 weeks to go until we fly to vegas we are now reconsidering the second part of our stay.
we have a go deluxe room at flamingo for $252 for 4 nights, however flicking around the various website and ive come across the cosmopolitan terrace suite for £340 (minus the 12% quidco cashback) which i am seriosuly considering.0 -

Thanks, but I've decided to just spend the extra £150 for peace of mind at the Mirage. There are just far too many negative reviews of the Flamingo online. I've stayed at the Mirage 4 times now and never been let down once.0 -

November / DecemberI think I'd have to go with the Terrace suite with it being just that bit more. Have been in two Cosmo rooms and they are lovely. The whole place seen very friendly too. The separate seating area and the kitchenette are just an extra bonus. If we didn't stay here so long, I'd have to stay in one myself.0

Ive ditched the flamingo and booked the cosmo terrace. With cashback its about £305 for 4 nights. It does look a very nice resort and worth the extra cost0 -

MayThought I'd do this on the fly........
We flew AA out of Heathrow early Friday morning heading to LA with a change in Chicago. Flew economy and thought it was great. To be honest we wish we hadn't bothered with the change as another 4 hours on the first flight would have been fine. Felt very comfy and well looked after. We were slightly delayed (around 15 mins) and when we hit Chicago it took 2 and a half hours to get through immigration which meant we missed our connecting flight. They put us on a flight 2 hours later so we went and enjoyed a few beerswhen we got to the gate they reported problem with the plane and delayed it.....we were told 40 mins but that turned into 2 hours. I wouldn't have minded if they'd just said so we could have relaxed but they basically bullish**ed us and kept us hanging on which was extremely frustrating. Even having someone famous on flight didn't distract me for long enough. Arrived in LA 4.5 hours late, very tired and annoyed.
Collected our luggage and went to look for the car rentals, quickly found the Thrifty bus outside the terminal which took us to their office. Filled out the form and we were taken to our Mustang Convertible as requested...amazing!!! We were fully expecting the "or similar" but we were pleasantly surprised.
I'll keep this brief as it's a Vegas forum but may be of interest to some, stayed at park plaza lodge hotel in LA after finding it on trip advisor, basic but was very cheap, people seemed nice, great location, comfy and clean. Adjoining restaurant/bar fiddlers bistro is great for dinner and breakfasts. Basically we saw some of the sights hollywood sign, griffith observatory, Santa Monica, went to Hollywood to the walk of fame. We ate lots of nice food, went to see a comedy show (Adam Carolla) people in LA were lovely and friendly, did some shopping including picking myself up an iPad 2
We left LA at 6.45 am Monday morning feeling very refreshed. We loved LA and will definitely be going back......however Vegas beckoned!
Our plan worked a treat. We didn't see much traffic at all, the sun came out after we left LA so we put the top down and cruised. Quick stop Peggy Sues just past Barstow.....(what a cool little place) for breakfast then into Vegas. Took 4 and a half including the stop to reach the Orleans. Love the hotel so far....got a room facing the mountains, we couldn't be happier. Off to do some exploring. Next installment in a few days.0
