Being the indecisive chap that I am I'm now considering splitting my week in Vegas across two hotels. How easy is the process involved, is it just a case of checkout at 10am, go to new hotel, leave bags with front desk then check in at around 4pm?

you may depending on the hotel even be able to leave cases at original hotel for couple of days, then just take smaller bag to new hotel to save carrying them up and back? What hotels are you thinking of?

At the moment just the MGM which is where I originally planned to stay, other than that I'm going to remain as flexible as possible and see what I come back with.

For some reason the Stratosphere appeals to me though I've heard some distinctly average reviews, and am told the surrounding area is a bit dodgy.

When I've switched hotels I've often been awake early -walked down to the new hotel -checked in -sometimes told to come back later for keys but often (especially if moving midweek rather than weekends) got the keys there and then so strolled back had breakfast and shifted over without any need to stick the bags with the valet in between.

Well it'd certainly be a contrast !!! The rooms at the Strat are fine but it's a bit isolated and yes walking North of the hotel is not recommended. If you were going to do that I'd suggest you do the better hotel second so you're going up not down in standards.

Other suggestions (assuming you want somewhere other than South strip for a different perspective) would be Riviera-cheap as chips-renovated rooms are very nice and free upgrades common-hotel is probably the last Strip hotel with an "Old Vegas " feel to it, if you can find a good rate at the Golden Nugget a couple of nights staying on Freemont Street might be fun .....or stay right in centre Strip at the Flamingo or Bills.

Always found changing a breeze doing three this year! Do conside Freemont st I always have a great time up there and nice and close to the outlet centre up there, and prices particulary good at weekend compared to the strip

Anyone any decent Priceline Vegas successes to share?

I've only used Priceline once for Vegas -it's probably about the only US city I wouldn't use it for -although I'd highly reccomend it for booking a stay in Anaheim for those doing Disneyland before or after Vegas. I've used PL all over including New York, Utah, Ohio , Boston etc and have a current booking with them in Idaho for next month.

I messed up my Vegas bid as I wanted mid or south Strip and clicked on North strip-I got the Riviera for peanuts (about $40 for a weekend night) and had decided I'd try the $20 trick to get a better room. When I got to check in I realized you can't do it there as they have a weird semi automated check in and you don't hand them your card but put it into a machine. However they told me I was upgraded anyway so $20 saved and I was gobsmacked to walk into my room to discover the upgrade was a full one bedroom suite with balcony. I did a little gambling there although spent most of my time mid Strip -but even a little meant they offered me 2 nights comped (weekend again) with $50 of food when I went back in December.

Personally I wouldn't use PL as first choice for Vegas as there are better ways of getting deals without the uncertainty of bidding although for a last moment booking I think it'd probably work best.
